Setup (Pre-Installation)

Step 1: Power Off Device

Ensure your iPhone is completely powered off before starting the repair. Press and hold the side button and either volume button until the 'slide to power off' slider appears, then drag the slider to power off the device.

Step 2: Remove Pentalobe Screws

Locate the two pentalobe screws on either side of the charging port at the bottom edge of the iPhone. Use the pentalobe screwdriver from your kit to carefully remove these screws. Keep them in a safe place.

Step 3: Heat the Screen Adhesive

Apply gentle heat to the edges of the screen using a hairdryer or heat gun for 2-3 minutes. This softens the adhesive holding the screen in place, making it easier to open. Do not overheat the device.

Step 4: Open the Device

Attach the suction cup to the bottom left corner of the screen, just above the home button area. Gently pull up on the suction cup while inserting a thin pry tool (or plastic pick) into the seam between the screen and the frame. Carefully slide the tool around the edges to separate the adhesive. Do not insert the tool too deep to avoid damaging internal components. Open the screen like a book, folding it to the right side.

Step 5: Disconnect Battery and Screen Cables

Once the screen is open, you will see metal shields covering the cable connections. Use the tri-wing screwdriver to remove the screws securing these shields. Carefully remove the shields. Using a plastic pry tool, gently disconnect the battery cable first, then proceed to disconnect the display, touch, and earpiece flex cables. Be extremely careful not to damage the connectors.

Step 6: Transfer Earpiece and Sensor Assembly

The earpiece speaker and front sensor assembly are attached to the old screen. You must transfer these components to your new screen. Carefully remove the screws holding this assembly in place. Gently pry the components off the old screen using a plastic tool, paying close attention to the small sensors and adhesive. Transfer them to the corresponding positions on the new screen.

Operating (Testing the New Screen)

Step 1: Temporary Connection

Before fully reassembling, temporarily connect the new screen's flex cables (display, touch, earpiece) to the logic board. Do not connect the battery yet.

Step 2: Power On and Test

Reconnect the battery cable. Power on the iPhone. Test the display for any lines, dead pixels, or discoloration. Test the touch functionality across the entire screen. Check the earpiece speaker and front camera/sensors. If any issues are present, power off the device, disconnect the battery, and recheck all cable connections. If the issue persists, contact customer support.

Step 3: Power Off After Testing

Once all tests are successful, power off the iPhone completely and disconnect the battery cable before proceeding with full reassembly.

Installation (Reassembly)

Step 1: Clean and Apply New Adhesive

Carefully remove any remaining old adhesive from the iPhone frame. Apply the new waterproof adhesive strip around the frame of the phone, ensuring it is properly aligned.

Step 2: Reconnect Cables and Shields

Reconnect the earpiece/sensor assembly cable, then the display and touch cables. Ensure each connector is properly aligned before gently pressing it into place. Reinstall the metal shields over the connectors and secure them with their original screws.

Step 3: Close the Phone

Carefully align the top edge of the new screen with the iPhone frame. Gently press the screen down along all edges until it clicks into place. Ensure there are no gaps between the screen and the frame.

Step 4: Reinstall Pentalobe Screws

Reinstall the two pentalobe screws at the bottom edge of the iPhone to secure the screen.

Maintenance

To prolong the life of your new screen:

• Avoid dropping the device or exposing it to excessive impact.
• Keep the screen clean using a soft, lint-free cloth.
• Avoid exposing the device to liquids, as the waterproof seal may be compromised after repair.
