Introduction

This manual provides instructions for the Icstation Programmable Sound Module, Model GY20461. This versatile sound chip is designed for DIY projects, allowing users to easily upload and play custom audio files. It features 8MB of storage, USB charging, and compatibility with both Windows and Mac computers.

Setup and Configuration

1. Charging the Module

  1. Ensure the module's ON/OFF switch is in the OFF position.
  2. Connect the module to a computer or a USB power adapter using a Micro USB cable (not included).
  3. A red indicator light will illuminate, signifying that the module is charging. The light will turn off once fully charged.

2. Connecting to a Computer and Uploading Audio Files

  1. Ensure the module's ON/OFF switch is in the ON position.
  2. Connect the module to your computer (Windows or Mac) using a Micro USB cable.
  3. Your computer will recognize the module as a USB drive. A blue indicator light will illuminate on the module.
  4. Open the USB drive. You may find a pre-installed sample audio file. It is recommended to delete this file before uploading your own.
  5. Drag and drop your desired MP3 or WAV audio files into the module's drive. The module has 8MB of storage capacity.
  6. Important: For specific playback order, rename your audio files numerically (e.g., "1.mp3", "2.mp3", "3.mp3"). The module will play files in numerical order.
  7. Safely eject the USB drive from your computer before disconnecting the module.

3. Adjusting Volume and Playback Modes

  • The module features a small surface-mounted volume slider. Locate this slider on the main board to adjust the output volume.
  • There are 6 different playback modes available. Detailed instructions for setting these modes can be found in the "Product guides and documents" section on the product's online listing.

Operating Instructions

1. Powering On and Off

Use the ON/OFF switch located on the main board to power the module on or off. Ensure the switch is in the ON position for operation and OFF for charging or storage.

2. Triggering Playback

Once audio files are uploaded and the module is powered on, press the connected control button to initiate playback. If multiple files are present and named numerically, they will play in sequence according to the selected playback mode.

3. Integrating into DIY Projects (Self-Adhesive Feature)

The reverse side of the main module board features a protective film. Peel off this film to reveal a self-adhesive surface, allowing you to securely attach the module to various items such as gift boxes, greeting cards, or other creative projects. This enables discreet integration of the sound functionality.

Maintenance

  • Battery Care: The module includes rechargeable Lithium Ion batteries. For optimal battery life, avoid fully discharging the module frequently. Recharge when the red indicator light appears during operation or before extended storage.
  • Cleaning: Use a dry, soft cloth to gently wipe the module. Avoid using liquid cleaners or abrasive materials.
  • Storage: Store the module in a cool, dry place when not in use. If storing for a long period, ensure it is partially charged.
