2. Safety Information
Operating a generator safely is crucial to prevent injury or damage. Always follow these guidelines:
- Carbon Monoxide Hazard: Generators produce carbon monoxide (CO), an odorless, colorless, poisonous gas. Operate the generator outdoors in a well-ventilated area, far from windows, doors, and vents. Never operate it inside a home, garage, basement, crawl space, or other enclosed area. This generator is equipped with a CO Sensor for added safety.
- Fire Hazard: Gasoline is highly flammable. Store fuel in an approved container in a well-ventilated area. Do not refuel the generator while it is running or hot. Ensure the generator is on a level surface and away from combustible materials.
- Electrical Shock Hazard: Do not operate the generator in wet conditions. Ensure all electrical connections are secure and dry. Never connect the generator directly to your home's electrical system without a transfer switch installed by a qualified electrician.
- Hot Surfaces: The generator's engine and muffler become very hot during operation and remain hot for a period after shutdown. Avoid touching these surfaces to prevent burns.
- Children and Pets: Keep children and pets away from the generator during operation.

4. Setup
Before first use, proper setup is essential for safe and efficient operation.
4.1 Add Engine Oil
- Place the generator on a level surface.
- Locate the oil fill cap/dipstick.
- Using the provided oil funnel, slowly add 0.45 liters (0.12 gallons) of recommended engine oil (e.g., 10W-30) into the oil fill opening. Do not overfill.
- Replace the oil fill cap/dipstick securely.
Note: It is recommended to change the oil frequently during the first few hours of operation to ensure proper engine break-in.
4.2 Add Fuel
- Ensure the generator is turned OFF and cool.
- Unscrew the fuel cap.
- Carefully pour fresh, unleaded gasoline (minimum 87 octane) into the fuel tank. The tank capacity is 4 liters (1.05 gallons). Do not overfill.
- Securely replace the fuel cap.
5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Starting the Generator
- Ensure the generator is on a level surface and in a well-ventilated outdoor area.
- Turn the fuel valve to the "ON" position.
- Move the choke lever to the "CHOKE" position (if the engine is cold).
- Turn the engine switch to the "ON" position.
- Pull the recoil starter handle firmly and smoothly until the engine starts.
- Once the engine starts, gradually move the choke lever to the "RUN" position.
5.2 Connecting Appliances
The MXR3500 offers multiple output options:
- 1 x 240V 15Amp AC Outlet
- 1 x DC 12V/8.3A Outlet
- 2 x USB Outlets (1.0A and 2.1A)
Plug your appliances into the appropriate outlets. Ensure the total wattage of connected devices does not exceed the generator's running wattage (3000W).

5.3 Eco-Mode Operation
The "Eco-Mode" switch, located on the control panel, allows the generator to automatically adjust engine speed to match the load. This feature improves fuel efficiency and reduces noise when less power is required. For maximum fuel efficiency and quieter operation, engage the Eco-Mode when powering lighter loads.
5.4 Parallel Operation
For increased power output, two MXR3500 generators can be connected in parallel using the provided parallel cables. This allows for combined wattage, enabling you to power more equipment. Refer to the parallel kit instructions for detailed connection procedures.

5.5 Stopping the Generator
- Disconnect all electrical loads from the generator.
- Turn the engine switch to the "OFF" position.
- Turn the fuel valve to the "OFF" position.
6. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your generator.
6.1 Engine Oil Change
Change the engine oil after the first 20 hours of operation, and then every 50-100 hours or annually, whichever comes first. Refer to Section 4.1 for oil specifications and capacity.
6.2 Spark Plug Inspection and Replacement
Inspect the spark plug every 100 hours or annually. Clean or replace if necessary. Use the provided spark plug socket wrench for removal and installation.
6.3 Air Filter Cleaning
Clean the air filter element every 50 hours or more frequently in dusty conditions. A dirty air filter can reduce engine performance and increase fuel consumption.
6.4 Storage
For long-term storage (over 30 days):
- Drain the fuel tank and carburetor.
- Change the engine oil.
- Remove the spark plug and pour a small amount of engine oil into the cylinder. Pull the recoil starter a few times to distribute the oil, then reinstall the spark plug.
- Store the generator in a clean, dry place, covered with the provided generator cover.
