VPFET Analog to Digital Audio Converter User Manual

Model: 20220419002

1. Introduction and Overview

The VPFET Analog to Digital Audio Converter is designed to convert analog stereo audio signals (from RCA or 3.5mm AUX inputs) into digital coaxial and Toslink SPDIF optical audio outputs simultaneously. This device allows you to connect older analog audio sources to modern digital audio systems, such as soundbars or amplifiers, that only accept digital inputs.

Key features include support for uncompressed 2-channel PCM digital audio output and sampling rates at 32K, 44.1K, and 48K. The converter features an automatic encoding design, eliminating the need for software installation and ensuring high bandwidth without distortion or loss of audio content. Its compact aluminum metal housing provides efficient heat dissipation and electromagnetic compatibility, extending product life.

Important Note: This device is an Analog to Digital converter. It does not convert Digital to Analog audio. To prevent humming noise, always unplug the power source before connecting any audio cables. This device does not feature volume control; please adjust volume using your signal source or amplifier.

4. Setup Instructions

Follow these steps to set up your VPFET Analog to Digital Audio Converter:

  1. Power Off Devices: Ensure all audio source devices, the converter, and receiving audio devices (soundbar, amplifier) are powered off and unplugged from their power sources.
  2. Connect Audio Input: Choose one of the two analog input options:
    • Connect your audio source (e.g., TV, PS3, MP3 player, DVD player, smartphone, laptop) to the L/R RCA Stereo Input ports on the converter using an RCA cable.
    • Alternatively, connect your audio source to the 3.5mm AUX Input jack on the converter using a 3.5mm audio cable.

Note: Only one analog input (RCA or 3.5mm AUX) can be used at a time.

  3. Connect Audio Output: Choose one or both digital output options:
    • Connect the Optical Output port on the converter to the optical input of your digital audio receiver, soundbar, or amplifier using the provided optical cable. Ensure the optical cable is inserted firmly in the correct direction.
    • Connect the Coaxial Output port on the converter to the coaxial input of your digital audio receiver, soundbar, or amplifier using a coaxial cable (not included).
  4. Connect Power: Connect the provided 5V USB power cable to the 5V Power Input port on the converter. Plug the other end of the USB cable into a 5V USB power adapter (not included) or a USB port on your TV/device that provides sufficient power.
  5. Power On Devices: Plug in and power on your audio source device, the VPFET converter, and your receiving audio device.

5. Operating Instructions

The VPFET Analog to Digital Audio Converter is designed for simple plug-and-play operation. Once connected as described in the setup section, the device will automatically convert the analog audio signal to digital outputs.

  • Ensure your audio source is playing content.
  • Select the correct digital input (Optical or Coaxial) on your receiving audio device (soundbar, amplifier).
  • Adjust the volume directly on your audio source device or your receiving audio device, as the converter does not have its own volume control.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues, refer to the following troubleshooting tips:

  • No Audio Output:
    • Ensure all cables are securely connected to their respective ports.
    • Verify that the converter is receiving power (check the power indicator light, if present).
    • Confirm that your receiving audio device (soundbar, amplifier) is set to the correct digital input (Optical or Coaxial).
    • Check the volume levels on both your audio source and receiving audio device.
    • Ensure your audio source is outputting an analog stereo signal (PCM). This converter does not support Dolby Digital or DTS signals.
  • Humming Noise:
    • A humming noise can occur if audio cables are connected while the power source is active. Always unplug the power source from the converter before connecting or disconnecting audio cables.
    • Ensure proper grounding for all connected devices.
    • Try using a different power adapter or USB port for the converter.
  • Poor Audio Quality:
    • Check the quality of your audio cables. Damaged or low-quality cables can affect performance.
    • Ensure the audio source is providing a clean analog signal.
  • Incompatible with Bluetooth Speakers:
    • This converter is not designed to work with Bluetooth speakers. It provides wired digital audio outputs.
