2. Safety Information
Adhering to safety precautions is crucial when working with battery management systems. Failure to follow these guidelines can result in injury, damage to equipment, or fire.
- Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses and insulated gloves, when handling batteries and electrical components.
- Ensure all connections are correct and secure before applying power. Incorrect wiring can cause damage to the BMS, battery pack, or connected equipment, and poses a fire hazard.
- Do not short-circuit the battery terminals or the BMS output.
- Avoid exposing the BMS to moisture, extreme temperatures, or corrosive environments.
- Only use the BMS with compatible Li-ion battery packs (13S, 48V nominal).
- If you are unsure about any part of the installation or operation, consult a qualified professional.

I. Connection sequence of protection board and battery:
Special attention: The cables provided by different manufacturers are not universally compatible. Always use the supporting cables supplied with your DALY BMS.
- Important: When soldering the sampling cable, ensure the cable is not inserted into the BMS.
- Connect the sampling line: Start with the thin black line to the total negative electrode (B-). The second line (red line) connects to the positive electrode of the first battery string. Continue connecting each subsequent line to the positive electrode of each battery string until the last line connects to the total positive electrode (B+).
- After connecting the balance cables, do not immediately insert the plug into the BMS. First, measure the voltage between each two adjacent metal terminals on the back of the plug. For Li-ion batteries, the voltage should be between 3.0V and 4.15V. For LiFePO4 batteries, it should be between 2.5V and 3.6V. For LTO batteries, it should be between 1.8V and 2.8V. Ensure the voltage is correct before proceeding.
- Connect the b-wire (thick blue wire) of the protection plate to the negative pole of the battery pack.
- Finally, insert the balance cable plug into the BMS.
II. After wiring:
- Measure whether the battery B+, b-voltage, and B+, p-voltage are equal. This confirms that the voltage of the battery pack itself is equal to the voltage after passing through the protection board. If they are equal, the BMS is functioning normally. If not, recheck the wiring sequence.
- The positive electrodes of the charge and discharge terminals are directly connected to the total positive electrode B+ of the battery.
- For common port BMS models, the negative electrodes of both charge and discharge are connected to the P- terminal of the protection board.

5. Operating Instructions
Once properly installed, the DALY BMS will automatically manage the charging and discharging of your Li-ion battery pack. It continuously monitors cell voltages, currents, and temperatures to ensure safe operation within specified parameters. The BMS will initiate protective actions (e.g., cutting off charge/discharge) if any parameter exceeds safe limits, indicated by a temporary interruption of power flow.
6. Maintenance
The DALY BMS is designed for minimal maintenance. Periodically inspect all wiring connections for tightness and signs of wear or corrosion. Ensure the BMS unit is kept clean and free from dust or debris. Avoid physical impact or excessive vibration. Do not attempt to open or repair the BMS unit yourself, as this will void the warranty and may cause damage.
7. Troubleshooting
If the battery pack or connected equipment is not functioning as expected, consider the following common issues and their potential solutions:
- No Power Output: Check all wiring connections, especially the B- and P- terminals. Verify that the battery pack voltage is within the normal operating range. The BMS may have activated a protection feature (e.g., over-discharge protection); try charging the battery.
- Charging Issues: Ensure the charger is compatible and functioning correctly. Check for overcharge protection activation. Verify balance lead connections are secure and in the correct sequence.
- Overheating: Ensure adequate ventilation around the BMS and battery pack. Reduce load if continuous high current is causing excessive heat.
- BMS Not Activating: Recheck the balance lead connection sequence and ensure all cell voltages are within acceptable limits before inserting the balance plug into the BMS.
