5. Setup and Installation

Follow these steps carefully for proper installation of the DALY BMS. The wiring diagram below uses the H series 60A BMS as an example.

Wiring diagram for DALY BMS installation, showing connections for battery pack, sampling cable, electric machine, load, and recharger.

Image: Installation and Wiring Diagram. This diagram illustrates the correct connection points for the battery pack, sampling cable, and output wires to the load and charger.

  1. Solder the Sampling Cables: Connect the first black cable in the sampling cable set to the negative terminal of the battery pack (B-). Connect the second cable (red) to the positive terminal of the first string of batteries, and the third cable (red) to the positive terminal of the second string of batteries. Continue this process until all cables are connected to their respective positive terminals of each battery string.
  2. Check the Cables: After connecting all sampling cables, measure the voltage between any two adjacent cables. Ensure there are no incorrect connections or missing connections.
  3. Connect Output Wires and Activate: Connect the B- wire of the BMS to the overall negative electrode of the battery pack. Then, plug the sampling cable into the BMS. After activating the BMS, verify that the voltage (battery voltage) between B+ and B- and the voltage between P+ and P- are consistent.

6. Operating Instructions

Once installed and verified, the DALY BMS operates automatically to manage and protect your battery pack. It continuously monitors voltage, current, and temperature to ensure safe operation.

  • Charging: Connect your compatible charger to the battery pack. The BMS will manage the charging process, preventing overcharge and balancing cell voltages.
  • Discharging: Connect your load to the battery pack. The BMS will monitor discharge current and voltage, preventing overdischarge and overcurrent conditions.
  • Protection Activation: If any protection threshold (e.g., overvoltage, undervoltage, overcurrent, high/low temperature) is exceeded, the BMS will temporarily disconnect the battery from the load or charger to prevent damage. It will automatically resume operation once conditions return to safe levels.

7. Maintenance

The DALY BMS is designed for minimal maintenance. However, periodic checks can help ensure its continued optimal performance.

  • Visual Inspection: Periodically inspect the BMS and all connections for any signs of physical damage, corrosion, or loose wiring.
  • Cleanliness: Keep the BMS clean and free from dust and debris. Use a dry, soft cloth for cleaning. Do not use liquids or solvents.
  • Environmental Conditions: Ensure the BMS operates within its specified temperature and humidity ranges to prevent premature failure.
  • Firmware Updates: Standard BMS models typically do not have communication functions for firmware updates. If you have a smart BMS model, refer to its specific instructions for any potential updates.

8. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your DALY BMS, refer to the following common troubleshooting steps:

Common Troubleshooting Guide
ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Battery not chargingOvercharge protection activated, charger fault, loose connections.Check charger functionality. Verify all wiring connections. Allow battery voltage to drop slightly if overcharge protection is active.
Battery not discharging (no power output)Overdischarge protection, overcurrent protection, short circuit, loose connections.Check battery voltage (if too low, recharge). Reduce load if overcurrent is suspected. Inspect for short circuits. Verify all wiring connections.
BMS is hotHigh current draw, poor ventilation, internal fault.Ensure adequate ventilation. Reduce load if possible. If overheating persists, discontinue use and contact support.
Inconsistent cell voltagesBattery cell imbalance. The BMS has a balancing function. Allow time for the BMS to balance cells during charging. If severe, manual balancing may be required by a professional.

If the problem persists after attempting these solutions, please contact DALY customer service for further assistance.
