3. Setup and Installation

3.1 Important Safety Information

  • WARNING: To avoid fire, shock, or death, turn off power at the circuit breaker or fuse box and test that power is off before wiring.
  • This switch is designed for single-pole installations only. It is not suitable for 3-way installations.
  • A proper GROUND wire is required for the switch to function correctly.
  • Compatible with 300W LED/CFL and 600W incandescent light bulbs.

3.2 Wiring Guide

  1. Turn off power at the circuit breaker.
  2. Remove the existing wall plate and switch.
  3. Identify the wires: Power (Hot/Black), Load (Red), and Ground (Green). This switch does not require a neutral wire.
  4. Connect the wires from the wall box to the corresponding wires on the ECOELER switch using the provided wire nuts:
    • Black wire from wall box (Hot) to Black wire on switch.
    • Red wire from wall box (Load to light/fan) to Red wire on switch.
    • Green or non-insulated copper wire from wall box (Ground) to Green wire on switch.
  5. Carefully push the wired switch into the wall box.
  6. Attach the wall plate.
  7. Restore power at the circuit breaker.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Operation Modes

The ECOELER Motion Sensor Light Switch offers two primary operation modes: Occupancy (OCC) and Vacancy (VAC).

  • Occupancy (OCC) Mode: Lights automatically turn ON when motion is detected and turn OFF when the area is unoccupied after a set delay.
  • Vacancy (VAC) Mode: Lights require manual activation (turn ON) but will automatically turn OFF when the area is unoccupied after a set delay. This mode is ideal for rooms with sporadic motion or frequently forgotten spaces.

4.2 Customizable Settings

The switch features adjustable dials for Time Delay, Sensitivity, and Light Level. These settings are accessible by gently prying off the front cover of the switch (refer to Figure 5).

  1. Adjustable Time Delay (TIME): Sets how long the lights remain ON after the last detected motion. Options range from 15 seconds to 30 minutes.
  2. Adjustable Sensitivity (SENSE): Controls the motion sensor's detection range and responsiveness, from 20% to 100%. Adjust this based on room size and desired detection area.
  3. Adjustable Light Level (LIGHT): Determines the ambient light threshold for the sensor to activate. This allows the lights to remain OFF if there is sufficient natural light, saving energy.

5. Maintenance

The ECOELER Motion Sensor Light Switch requires minimal maintenance. Keep the sensor lens clean and free from dust or obstructions to ensure optimal performance. Use a soft, dry cloth for cleaning. Do not use liquid cleaners or aerosols.

6. Troubleshooting

  • Lights not turning ON: Check the circuit breaker. Ensure wiring connections are secure. Verify the sensitivity and light level settings are appropriate for the environment.
  • Lights not turning OFF: Adjust the time delay setting. Ensure there are no constant movements within the sensor's range. Check if the switch is in Occupancy (OCC) mode and if the light level setting is too high, preventing it from turning off in bright conditions.
  • Sensor too sensitive/not sensitive enough: Adjust the 'SENSE' dial to increase or decrease detection range.
  • Intermittent operation: Ensure the sensor lens is clean and unobstructed. Verify proper grounding.
