3. Setup

The Eva-Dry E-500 is ready for use directly out of the packaging. No initial setup or assembly is required. Simply place the unit in the desired location where moisture control is needed.

Initial Check:

Before first use, observe the moisture indicator window. It should display an orange color, indicating the silica gel is dry and ready to absorb moisture. If the indicator is green, the unit requires renewal (see Section 5: Renewal Instructions).

4. Operating Instructions

The Eva-Dry E-500 operates passively, absorbing moisture from the air without requiring electricity during its dehumidification cycle. The unit's silica gel beads attract and trap water vapor.

Moisture Indicator:

The unit features a clear indicator window on the front. This window contains silica gel beads that change color to reflect their moisture saturation level:

  • Orange: Indicates the unit is dry and actively absorbing moisture.
  • Green: Indicates the unit is saturated with moisture and requires renewal.

The average dehumidification cycle time is approximately 4 to 6 weeks, though this can vary based on the humidity levels in the environment.

5. Renewal Instructions

When the moisture indicator turns green, the Eva-Dry E-500 needs to be renewed. This process dries out the silica gel, preparing it for another dehumidification cycle.

Renewal Steps:

  1. Locate a standard electrical outlet.
  2. Plug the unit directly into the outlet. It is recommended to use a power strip rather than a direct wall outlet to ensure proper ventilation.
  3. Ensure at least 24 inches of clear space around the unit for adequate ventilation during the renewal process.
  4. Allow the unit to renew for 16 to 18 hours. During this time, the unit will generate heat to dry the silica gel.
  5. Monitor the indicator window. It will gradually change from green back to orange.
  6. If the indicator is not fully orange after 18 hours, unplug the unit, allow it to cool, gently shake it, and then plug it back in for a second renewal cycle.
  7. Once the indicator is orange, the unit is ready for use again.

Caution: The unit will become warm during renewal. Do not cover the unit or place it near flammable materials. Ensure proper ventilation.

7. Maintenance

The primary maintenance for the Eva-Dry E-500 is its renewal process, as described in Section 5. The unit requires no water collection tanks to empty, no filters to replace, and no refills of desiccant material. Simply renew the unit when the indicator turns green.

Cleaning:

Wipe the exterior of the unit with a soft, dry cloth as needed. Do not use abrasive cleaners or immerse the unit in water.

8. Troubleshooting

  • Indicator Not Changing from Green to Orange:
Ensure the unit is plugged into a functional electrical outlet for the recommended 16-18 hours. Verify there is at least 24 inches of clear space around the unit for proper ventilation. If the issue persists, unplug, allow to cool, gently shake, and attempt a second renewal cycle.
  • Unit Not Absorbing Moisture:
Check the indicator window. If it is green, the unit is saturated and requires renewal. If it is orange, ensure the unit is placed in an enclosed space appropriate for its capacity (up to 500 cubic feet). In very large or highly humid areas, multiple units or a larger dehumidifier may be necessary.
  • Slight Popping Sound During Renewal:
A slight popping sound during the renewal process is normal and indicates the silica gel is actively drying. This is not a malfunction.
  • Unit Feels Hot During Renewal:
It is normal for the unit to become warm during the renewal cycle as it heats to dry the silica gel. Ensure proper ventilation and do not cover the unit.
