Important Safety Instructions

When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and/or injury to persons, including the following:

  1. Read all instructions.
  2. Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs.
  3. To protect against fire, electric shock, and injury to persons, do not immerse cord, plugs, or coffee maker in water or other liquid.
  4. Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children.
  5. Unplug from outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow to cool before putting on or taking off parts, and before cleaning the appliance.
  6. Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug or after the appliance malfunctions, or has been damaged in any manner. Return appliance to the nearest authorized service facility for examination, repair, or adjustment.
  7. The use of accessory attachments not recommended by the appliance manufacturer may result in fire, electric shock, or injury to persons.
  8. Do not use outdoors.
  9. Do not let cord hang over edge of table or counter, or touch hot surfaces.
  10. Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in a heated oven.
  11. Always attach plug to appliance first, then plug cord into the wall outlet. To disconnect, turn any control to “off,” then remove plug from wall outlet.
  12. Do not use appliance for other than intended use.
  13. Scalding may occur if the lid is removed during the brewing cycles.

Setup

  1. Unpack and Clean: Carefully unpack all components. Wash the thermal carafe, reusable filter, and measuring scoop in warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry. Wipe the exterior of the coffee maker with a damp cloth.
  2. Position the Coffee Maker: Place the coffee maker on a flat, stable surface away from the edge of the counter. Ensure it is near an electrical outlet.
  3. First Use Cycle: Before brewing coffee, run a full cycle with only water to clean the internal components. Fill the water reservoir to the '8 MAX' line, place the empty reusable filter in the filter basket, and press the 'BREW/OFF' button to start. Discard the water after the cycle.
  4. Set the Clock: Plug in the coffee maker. The display will flash. Use the 'HOUR' and 'MINUTE' buttons to set the current time.

Operating Instructions

Basic Brewing

  1. Add Water: Open the top lid and fill the water reservoir with fresh, cold water up to your desired level (2, 4, or 8 cups). Refer to the water level indicator on the side.
  2. Add Coffee Grounds: Place the reusable filter into the filter basket. Add your desired amount of ground coffee. A general guideline is one tablespoon of coffee per cup, but adjust to your taste.
  3. Start Brewing: Close the top lid and ensure the thermal carafe is correctly placed on the warming plate. Press the 'BREW/OFF' button to start the brewing cycle. The indicator light will illuminate.
  4. Serve: Once brewing is complete, the coffee maker will automatically turn off. Carefully remove the thermal carafe and pour your coffee.

Programmable Delay Brew

The 24-hour programmable timer allows you to set the coffee maker to start brewing at a specific time.

  1. Prepare the coffee maker with water and coffee grounds as described in 'Basic Brewing'.
  2. Press the 'PROGRAM' button. The display will show 'PROGRAM' and flash.
  3. Use the 'HOUR' and 'MINUTE' buttons to set your desired brew time.
  4. Press the 'PROGRAM' button again to confirm. The 'PROGRAM' indicator light will stay on.
  5. The coffee maker will automatically start brewing at the set time.

Brew Strength Control

You can choose between 'Classic' and 'Bold' brew strengths.

  • After adding water and coffee grounds, press the 'BOLD' button before pressing 'BREW/OFF' or setting the program.
  • The 'BOLD' indicator light will illuminate, signifying a stronger brew.

Thermal Carafe for Warming

The double-layer vacuum stainless steel thermal carafe is designed to keep your coffee at an optimal drinking temperature for up to 4 hours after brewing. There is no external warming plate, as the carafe itself provides insulation.

Maintenance and Cleaning

Self-Cleaning Function

The coffee maker features a self-cleaning cycle to remove mineral buildup and ensure optimal performance and coffee flavor. The 'CLEAN' indicator light will illuminate when a cleaning cycle is recommended.

  1. Fill the water reservoir to the '8 MAX' line with a mixture of water and descaling solution (e.g., white vinegar and water, 1:2 ratio).
  2. Ensure the reusable filter is empty and the thermal carafe is in place.
  3. Press the 'CLEAN' button. The 'CLEAN' indicator light will flash, and the cleaning cycle will begin.
  4. The cycle will pause and resume automatically. Once complete, discard the cleaning solution.
  5. Run 2-3 full cycles with fresh water only to rinse the system thoroughly.

Daily Cleaning

  • After each use, discard used coffee grounds and rinse the reusable filter.
  • Wash the reusable filter and thermal carafe with warm, soapy water.
  • Wipe the exterior of the coffee maker with a damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads.

All BPA-free plastic parts and the thermal carafe are dishwasher safe for convenient cleaning. Place them on the top rack of your dishwasher.
