5. Setup

5.1 Battery Installation

  1. Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the device.
  2. Slide the cover open.
  3. Insert the two AAA 1.5V batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
  4. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

5.2 Power On/Off

  • Power On: Press the MEAS button once to turn on the device. The laser will activate.
  • Power Off: Press and hold the Clear/Off button for approximately 3 seconds. The device will also automatically power off after 180 seconds of inactivity to conserve energy.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Basic Distance Measurement

  1. Turn on the device by pressing the MEAS button.
  2. Point the laser beam at the target.
  3. Press the MEAS button again to take a measurement. The distance will be displayed on the screen.

6.2 Unit Switching

Press the Unit button to cycle through available measurement units: meters (M), feet (FT), inches (IN), and feet+inches (ft+in).

6.3 Reference Point Adjustment

The device can measure from its front or rear edge. Press the Reference Point button to switch between these two modes. An icon on the display will indicate the active reference point.

6.4 Measurement Modes

Press the Function button to cycle through the following measurement modes:

  • Single Distance Measurement: Standard measurement from point A to point B.
  • Continuous Measurement: Displays real-time distance as the device is moved.
  • Area Measurement: Measures length and width to calculate area.
  • Volume Measurement: Measures length, width, and height to calculate volume.
  • Pythagorean Measurement (3-point): Calculates indirect height or distance using three measurements.
  • Automatic Level: Measures the hypotenuse, then automatically calculates horizontal distance and vertical height.
  • Automatic Height: Measures two hypotenuses, then automatically calculates vertical height.

6.5 Electronic Angle Sensor

The integrated electronic angle sensor displays the angle in real-time on the screen, with an accuracy of ±0.3°. This feature assists in finding horizontal alignment and performing indirect measurements.

6.6 Data Storage and Recall

The device can store up to 30 data records. Use the dedicated buttons (if available, otherwise refer to the full manual) to review and recall previous measurements.

7. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, damp cloth to clean the device. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Lens Care: Gently clean the laser lens with a soft cloth, similar to cleaning camera lenses. Avoid touching the lens with fingers.
  • Storage: Store the device in its portable pouch in a cool, dry place when not in use. Remove batteries if storing for extended periods to prevent leakage.
