Introduction

The Garmin Delta SE Dog Training System is designed to simplify dog training with its intuitive 3-button handheld and robust dog device. This system offers 10 levels of momentary and continuous stimulation, along with tone and vibration options, providing effective communication with your dog up to a half-mile range. It is suitable for both home training and field use, including hunting scenarios, and supports training for up to two dogs with an additional collar (sold separately).

Setup

1. Charging the Devices

Before initial use, fully charge both the handheld and the dog device. The included USB charging cable is designed to charge both units simultaneously.

1. Connect the USB charging cable to a power source.
2. For the handheld, plug the small end of the charging cable into the charging port located on the back of the handheld device.
3. For the dog device, align the charging clip with the contact points on the collar module and snap it into place.
4. Allow both devices to charge until the indicator lights show a full charge (typically solid green).

The handheld offers up to 60 hours of battery life, and the dog device up to 70 hours, depending on usage.

2. Attaching and Adjusting the Dog Device (Collar)

Proper fit of the dog device is crucial for effective and humane operation. The contact points must make reliable contact with your dog's skin.

1. Ensure the dog device is turned off before placing it on your dog.
2. Position the dog device on your dog's neck so that the contact points are underneath, making direct contact with the skin.
3. Adjust the collar strap for a snug fit. You should be able to fit two fingers snugly under the collar. The device should not move freely on the dog's neck.
4. If your dog has a thick coat, you may need to switch to the longer contact points provided. To do this, unscrew the pre-installed short contact points and replace them with the longer ones.

The Delta SE bundle includes both the handheld and one dog collar device.

Operating Instructions

1. Powering On/Off

• Handheld: Press and hold the power button on the side of the handheld until the display illuminates. To power off, press and hold the power button until the display turns off.
• Dog Device: Press and hold the power button on the dog device until the LED indicator light flashes. To power off, press and hold the power button until the LED indicator light turns off.

2. Handheld Controls

The Delta SE handheld features an ergonomic 3-button design for easy operation:

• M Button: Momentary Stimulation (a single, brief pulse of stimulation).
• C Button: Continuous Stimulation (stimulation continues as long as the button is held, up to 8 seconds).
• T Button: Tone (emits an audible tone from the dog device).

The small, ergonomic 3-button handheld simplifies the training process.

3. Adjusting Stimulation Levels and Modes

• Stimulation Level: Use the rotary dial on the top of the handheld to select one of 10 stimulation levels. Start with the lowest level and gradually increase as needed for your dog's temperament and training response.
• Mode Selection: Press the 'Mode' button on the side of the handheld to cycle through different training modes (e.g., Tone, Vibrate, Momentary Shock, Continuous Shock). The display will indicate the current mode.

Choose between tone, vibration, and 10 levels of momentary and continuous stimulation.

4. Multi-Dog Training

The Delta SE system allows you to train up to two dogs using a single handheld device. An additional Delta SE dog collar is required (sold separately).

• Use the slide switch on the side of the handheld to quickly switch between controlling Dog 1 (blue indicator) and Dog 2 (red indicator).
• Ensure each dog device is paired to the correct dog setting on the handheld.

5. Important Training Considerations

• Waterproof Design: Both the handheld and dog device are designed to be waterproof, making them suitable for use in various weather conditions. However, always ensure charging ports are sealed when not charging.
• Battery Care: To prolong battery life, avoid fully discharging the devices frequently. Store in a cool, dry place when not in use.

Troubleshooting

• Device Not Responding: Ensure both the handheld and dog device are powered on and fully charged. Check that the dog device is properly fitted and the contact points are touching the dog's skin.
• Poor Range: Obstacles such as dense foliage or terrain can affect the range. Ensure a clear line of sight between the handheld and the dog device for optimal performance.
• Skin Irritation: If skin irritation occurs, discontinue use immediately and consult a veterinarian. Ensure the collar is not too tight and is moved to a different position on the neck daily.
