Mounting the Amplifier
Choose a secure, dry, and well-ventilated location for mounting the amplifier. Ensure there is sufficient airflow around the heatsink to prevent overheating. Use the provided mounting hardware to secure the amplifier firmly to a solid surface in your vehicle.
Wiring Connections
Proper wiring is crucial for optimal performance and safety. Refer to the diagrams below for connection points.

Power Connections:
- +12V (Power): Connect this terminal directly to the positive (+) terminal of your vehicle's battery using a heavy-gauge power cable. An inline fuse (not included) should be installed within 18 inches of the battery.
- GND (Ground): Connect this terminal to a clean, unpainted metal surface of the vehicle's chassis. Ensure a solid, low-resistance connection.
- REM (Remote Turn-On): Connect this terminal to the remote turn-on output of your head unit. This signal turns the amplifier on and off with your car's audio system.
Speaker Connections:
- Connect your subwoofer(s) to the SPEAKER terminals (+ and -). Ensure correct polarity. This amplifier is 1 Ohm stable, allowing for flexible subwoofer configurations.
Signal Input (RCA / Line-Input):
The amplifier accepts low-voltage RCA inputs for the highest sound quality.

- Connect RCA cables from your head unit's pre-amp outputs to the LINE-INPUT (L and R) on the amplifier.
- Alternatively, use the HI-INPUT terminals if your head unit does not have RCA outputs.
Operating the Amplifier
Once installed, you can adjust the amplifier's settings to optimize sound performance.
Control Panel Adjustments
- LOW PASS (40Hz - 300Hz): This control sets the upper frequency limit for the amplifier's output. Adjust it to match the frequency response of your subwoofer(s).
- SUBSONIC (10Hz - 40Hz): This filter removes extremely low frequencies that are below the audible range and can cause damage to subwoofers. Set it just below the lowest frequency your subwoofer can reproduce effectively.
- BASS BOOST (0dB - 12dB): This control allows you to increase the bass output at a specific frequency (typically around 45Hz). Use sparingly to avoid distortion.
- LEVEL (0.2V - 6V): This gain control matches the output voltage of your head unit to the input sensitivity of the amplifier. Start with the gain at minimum and slowly increase it until you achieve clear, undistorted sound at your desired volume.
Using the Wired Bass Remote
The included wired bass remote allows for convenient real-time adjustments of bass frequencies from the driver's seat.
Image: The wired bass remote control. It features a single rotary knob for adjusting bass levels, with "MIN" and "MAX" indicators. The remote connects to the amplifier via an RJ11/RJ12 cable.
- Connect the bass remote to the "CR-U-01" port on the amplifier's control panel using the provided cable.
- Mount the remote in an easily accessible location within the vehicle.
- Rotate the knob to increase or decrease the bass output as desired.
Maintenance
The Crunch PZ2-1530.1D amplifier requires minimal maintenance.
- Keep the amplifier clean and free of dust and debris. Use a soft, dry cloth for cleaning.
- Ensure proper ventilation around the amplifier at all times.
- Periodically check all wiring connections to ensure they are secure and free from corrosion.
- Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners on the amplifier.
Troubleshooting
If you experience issues with your amplifier, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| No Power / Power LED Off | Blown fuse, loose power/ground connection, no remote signal. | Check inline fuse, verify all power and ground connections are secure, ensure remote wire is connected and receiving 12V. |
| Protect LED On | Overheating, short circuit in speaker wiring, impedance too low. | Allow amplifier to cool, check speaker wires for shorts, verify speaker impedance is within amplifier's specifications (1 Ohm minimum). |
| No Sound Output | Loose RCA cables, incorrect gain setting, speaker wires disconnected. | Check RCA connections, adjust gain level, ensure speaker wires are securely connected. |
| Distorted Sound | Gain set too high, poor ground connection, damaged speaker. | Reduce gain, improve ground connection, test speakers. |
If the problem persists after attempting these solutions, contact Crunch customer support or a qualified car audio technician.
