2. Safety Information

4. Product Overview

4.1 Components

5. Setup

5.1 Assembly

1. Attach the waterproof search coil to the lower stem using the provided screw and lock nut. Ensure it is securely fastened but allows for slight angle adjustment.
2. Connect the lower stem to the middle stem, and then the middle stem to the upper stem (which has the control box). Secure these connections with the screw nuts.
3. Carefully wrap the search coil cable around the stem, ensuring it is not pinched or strained, and plug the connector into the corresponding port on the control box.
4. Attach the arm support to the upper stem for comfortable operation.

5.2 Battery Installation

The metal detector requires 2x 9V batteries (not included). Locate the battery holder on the device, open the compartment, and insert the batteries according to the polarity markings. Close the compartment securely.

5.3 Adjusting Stem Length

The adjustable stem allows for a length range of 35 to 45 inches, accommodating users of various heights. Loosen the locking collar on the stem, extend or retract the stem to your desired length, and then tighten the collar to secure it.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Power On/Off

Press the POWER button on the control box to turn the metal detector on. Press and hold the POWER button to turn it off.

6.2 Sensitivity Adjustment

Use the UP and DOWN buttons (labeled SENS) to adjust the detection sensitivity. Higher sensitivity increases detection depth but may also increase false signals. Start with a medium sensitivity and adjust as needed for your environment.

6.3 Headphone Use

For clearer audio signals and private listening, plug any standard 3.5mm headphones into the headphone jack on the control box.

6.4 General Detection Technique

Hold the metal detector comfortably with the search coil parallel to the ground, approximately 1-2 inches above the surface. Sweep the search coil slowly and evenly from side to side in overlapping arcs. When a target is detected, the LCD display will show target information, and an audio tone will sound.

6.5 Detection Depth

The 8.5-inch search coil allows for a detection depth of up to 7 inches, providing enhanced capability for locating buried objects.

7. Detection Modes

The TILSWALL Metal Detector offers two primary detection modes:

7.1 All Metal Mode

In this mode, the detector will respond to all types of metal objects. This is ideal for general treasure hunting when you want to find any metallic item, regardless of its composition. The LCD will display target categories, and distinct audio tones (low, medium, high) will help differentiate between metals.

7.2 DISC Mode (Discrimination)

The DISC mode allows you to eliminate unwanted metal categories, such as iron or trash, and focus on specific types of valuable metals. Press the DISC button to cycle through discrimination settings. The detector will only alert you to metals that match your selected criteria, improving your detecting efficiency by reducing false signals from junk items.

8. Maintenance

• Cleaning: After each use, especially in sandy or wet conditions, wipe down the search coil with a damp cloth. Ensure the control box remains dry and clean. Do not use abrasive cleaners.
• Storage: Store the metal detector in a dry, cool place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. For long-term storage, remove the batteries to prevent leakage and damage to the electronics.
• Waterproof Search Coil Care: While the search coil is waterproof, avoid unnecessary submersion of the cable connection point to the control box. Always ensure the cable is securely connected and free from damage.

9. Troubleshooting

• No Power: Check if batteries are correctly installed and fully charged. Replace batteries if necessary.
• False Signals/Chattering: Reduce the sensitivity level using the SENS buttons. Move away from strong electromagnetic interference sources (e.g., power lines, other electronic devices). Avoid highly mineralized ground if possible.
• Shallow Detection Depth: Increase sensitivity if the environment allows. Ensure the search coil is swept slowly and parallel to the ground.
• No Target Indication: Verify that the detector is in the correct mode (All Metal or DISC). If in DISC mode, ensure the target metal type is not discriminated against.
• Overload Warning: This indicates a very strong signal, likely from a large metal object very close to the coil. Lift the coil slightly or reduce sensitivity.
