2. Safety Information
WARNING: Failure to follow these safety instructions can result in fire, explosion, serious injury, or death.
- Outdoor Use Only: This heater is designed exclusively for outdoor environments. Do not use indoors or in enclosed spaces due to the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning.
- Fuel Type: Use only high-quality paraffin fuel specifically designed for heaters. TOYOTOMI recommends using TOYOTOMI Plus, TOYOTOMI Max, or TOYOTOMI Clear fuels for optimal performance and safety. Never use gasoline, benzene, paint thinners, or other highly flammable liquids.
- Ventilation: Ensure adequate ventilation even in outdoor settings.
- Clearance: Maintain a safe distance from combustible materials (e.g., tents, furniture, dry leaves). Refer to the specifications for minimum clearance distances.
- Stable Surface: Always place the heater on a firm, level, non-combustible surface to prevent tipping.
- Children and Pets: Keep children and pets away from the heater during operation and while it is cooling down.
- Refueling: Always turn off the heater and allow it to cool completely before refueling. Refuel outdoors in a well-ventilated area.
- Triple Safety System: The KS-R26 is equipped with a triple safety system for enhanced protection. However, proper usage is paramount.
- Hot Surfaces: The heater's surfaces become very hot during operation. Avoid direct contact to prevent burns.
- Storage: Store the heater and fuel in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight and heat sources.

4. Setup
- Unpacking: Carefully remove the heater and all components from the packaging. Inspect for any damage.
- Placement: Place the heater on a stable, level, non-combustible surface in your desired outdoor location. Ensure adequate clearance from all combustible materials as specified in the safety section.
- Fueling:
- Ensure the heater is turned off and completely cool.
- Remove the fuel tank cap.
- Use the provided fuel transfer pump to fill the fuel tank with recommended paraffin fuel. Do not overfill.
- Securely replace the fuel tank cap.
- Wick Saturation: After initial fueling or if the heater has been stored dry, allow approximately 30-60 minutes for the wick to fully saturate with fuel before attempting to ignite.
5. Operating Instructions
- Ignition (Piezoelectric):
- Ensure the wick is raised to its highest position using the control knob.
- Press the ignition button (piezoelectric igniter) firmly. You should hear a click and see the wick ignite.
- If the wick does not ignite on the first attempt, release the button, wait a few seconds, and try again.
- Adjusting Heat Output: Rotate the control knob to raise or lower the wick, thereby adjusting the flame size and heat output. A higher wick produces more heat.
- Monitoring Flame: Observe the flame after ignition. It should be a steady, blue flame with yellow tips. An excessively high or smoky flame indicates improper wick adjustment or fuel.
- Shutting Down: To turn off the heater, rotate the control knob counter-clockwise to lower the wick completely. The flame will extinguish. Ensure the flame is fully out before leaving the heater unattended.

6. Maintenance
- Wick Maintenance: Regularly inspect the wick for charring or uneven burning. Trim or replace the wick as needed according to the detailed instructions in the full manual.
- Cleaning: Keep the heater clean and free of dust and debris. Use a soft, dry cloth for exterior cleaning. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Fuel Tank: Periodically drain and clean the fuel tank to prevent sediment buildup, especially if storing the heater for extended periods.
- Storage: Before long-term storage, ensure the fuel tank is empty and the wick is dry. Store in a dry, well-ventilated area.
7. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Heater does not ignite. | No fuel, wick not saturated, igniter malfunction, wick too low. | Check fuel level, allow wick to saturate, check igniter, raise wick. |
| Flame is weak or inconsistent. | Low fuel, poor quality fuel, dirty wick. | Refuel, use recommended fuel, clean or replace wick. |
| Excessive smoke or odor. | Improper wick height, incorrect fuel, poor ventilation. | Adjust wick, use recommended fuel, ensure adequate ventilation. |
| Heater shuts off unexpectedly. | Low fuel, safety mechanism activated (e.g., tip-over). | Refuel, check heater position and reset if safety mechanism was triggered. |
