The watch features a black IPBK case, a vibrant blue dial with three sub-dials, and a black genuine Italian leather strap. The main hands are silver-toned, and the chronograph seconds hand is red. A date window is visible at the 6 o'clock position. The bezel includes a tachymeter scale.

1. Setup

1.1 Winding the Watch

Your Gevril Canal St watch is equipped with an automatic movement. It is powered by the motion of your wrist. If the watch has stopped or has not been worn for an extended period, it may require manual winding to initiate operation.

  • Ensure the crown is in position 1 (fully pushed in).
  • Turn the crown clockwise approximately 20-30 times. This will provide sufficient power reserve to start the watch.
  • The watch will then continue to wind itself through normal wrist movement.

1.2 Setting the Time and Date

To set the time and date, follow these steps:

  1. Pull the crown to position 3 (outermost position). The seconds hand will stop.
  2. Turn the crown clockwise or counter-clockwise to set the desired time. To ensure accurate time setting, align the minute hand precisely with the minute markers.
  3. Once the time is set, push the crown back to position 1 (fully pushed in). The seconds hand will resume movement.
  4. To set the date, pull the crown to position 2 (middle position).
  5. Turn the crown counter-clockwise to adjust the date. Avoid setting the date between 9 PM and 3 AM, as this can damage the movement. If the current time falls within this period, first adjust the time outside this range, set the date, then reset the time.
  6. Once the date is set, push the crown back to position 1.

Note: The watch features a push/pull crown. Do not force the crown.

2. Operating the Chronograph Function

The chronograph function allows for precise measurement of elapsed time. Your watch features three sub-dials for chronograph measurements: a 1/8-seconds counter, a 30-minutes counter, and a 12-hours counter.

  • Start: Press the upper pusher (button A) to start the chronograph. The central chronograph seconds hand will begin to move, along with the 1/8-seconds sub-dial.
  • Stop: Press the upper pusher (button A) again to stop the chronograph. The elapsed time can be read from the central chronograph seconds hand, the 30-minutes sub-dial (typically at 3 o'clock), and the 12-hours sub-dial (typically at 6 or 9 o'clock).
  • Reset: After stopping the chronograph, press the lower pusher (button B) to reset all chronograph hands to their zero positions.
  • Intermediate Time (Split Time): Some chronographs allow for intermediate time measurement. If your model supports this, press the lower pusher (button B) while the chronograph is running to display an intermediate time. Press button B again to catch up to the running time. Press button A to stop, then button B to reset.

Note: Avoid operating the chronograph pushers underwater.

3. Maintenance

3.1 Cleaning Your Watch

To maintain the appearance of your watch:

  • Wipe the case and crystal with a soft, dry cloth.
  • For leather straps, avoid prolonged exposure to water, direct sunlight, and harsh chemicals. Clean with a damp cloth and allow to air dry.
  • Do not use chemical cleaning agents, as they may damage the watch's finish or seals.

3.2 Water Resistance

Your Gevril Canal St watch is designed with a certain level of water resistance. Refer to the watch's case back or product specifications for the exact water resistance rating (e.g., 5 ATM, 10 ATM). Always ensure the crown is fully pushed in before any contact with water.

  • 3 ATM (30 meters/100 feet): Suitable for everyday use. Splash/rain resistant. Not suitable for showering, bathing, swimming, snorkeling, water-related work, or fishing.
  • 5 ATM (50 meters/165 feet): Suitable for swimming in shallow water. Not suitable for diving or snorkeling.
  • 10 ATM (100 meters/330 feet): Suitable for swimming and snorkeling. Not suitable for high-impact water sports or diving.

Note: Water resistance is not a permanent condition and may eventually deteriorate. Avoid exposing the watch to extreme temperature changes.

3.3 Service and Inspection

It is recommended to have your automatic watch inspected by an authorized service center every 3-5 years to ensure optimal performance and water resistance integrity. This includes checking the movement, seals, and lubrication.

4. Troubleshooting

  • Watch has stopped or is running intermittently:

As an automatic watch, it requires regular wear or manual winding. Ensure it is fully wound (refer to Section 1.1). If the issue persists after winding, it may require professional inspection.

  • Date changes at noon instead of midnight:

This indicates the watch's AM/PM setting is incorrect. Advance the time by 12 hours. The date should then change at midnight.

  • Chronograph hands do not reset to zero:

This can sometimes be corrected by performing a chronograph reset calibration. Consult an authorized service center if the issue persists after attempting a standard reset (Section 2).

  • Condensation under the crystal:

This indicates a breach in the watch's water resistance. Seek immediate professional service to prevent further damage to the movement.
