3. Product Overview

Controls and Ports

  • Power Button: Turns the unit on/off.
  • Mode/EQ Button: Switches between CD, FM Radio, Bluetooth, USB, and AUX modes. Also cycles through 5 EQ modes.
  • Play/Pause/Scan Button: Plays or pauses playback. In FM mode, press and hold to scan for stations.
  • Skip/Search Buttons (Previous/Next): Skips tracks or stations. Press and hold to fast forward/rewind.
  • Repeat Button: Repeats current track, all tracks, or shuffles playback.
  • Volume Knob: Adjusts the audio output level.

4. Setup

4.1 Powering the Device

The boombox can be powered by AC current or batteries for portable use.

  • AC Power: Connect the included AC cord to the AC input jack on the back of the unit and plug the other end into a standard wall outlet.
  • Battery Power: For portable use, insert 4 x C batteries (not included) into the battery compartment on the bottom of the unit. Ensure correct polarity (+/-). Alkaline batteries are recommended for best performance.

4.2 Inserting a CD

To play audio CDs, CD-R/RWs, CD-G, audiobooks, or MP3/WMA discs:

  1. Gently lift the CD compartment lid located on top of the unit.
  2. Remove any protective cardboard or plastic insert from the CD tray.
  3. Place a CD with the label side facing up onto the center spindle.
  4. Close the CD compartment lid firmly until it clicks into place.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 CD Playback

After inserting a CD and powering on the unit:

  1. Press the Mode/EQ button until "CD" appears on the LCD display.
  2. The CD will typically start playing automatically. If not, press the Play/Pause button.
  3. Use the Skip/Search buttons to navigate between tracks. Press and hold to fast forward or rewind within a track.
  4. Press the Repeat button to cycle through repeat modes (repeat one, repeat all, shuffle).

5.2 FM Radio

Enjoy clear FM stereo sound with digital tuning.

  1. Extend the FM antenna for optimal reception.
  2. Press the Mode/EQ button until "FM" appears on the LCD display.
  3. Use the Tuning Knob to manually select your desired FM frequency.
  4. Press and hold the Play/Pause/Scan button to automatically scan and save up to 30 available stations.

5.3 Bluetooth Mode

Wirelessly stream audio from your compatible devices.

  1. Press the Mode/EQ button until "BT" appears on the LCD display. The unit will enter pairing mode.
  2. On your smartphone, tablet, or laptop, enable Bluetooth and search for available devices.
  3. Select "MEGATEK CB-M25BT" from the list to pair. Once connected, you will hear an audible confirmation.
  4. Start playing audio on your device. Use the boombox's controls or your device's controls for playback.

5.4 USB Playback

Play MP3/WMA audio files directly from a USB flash drive.

  1. Insert a USB flash drive (up to 128 GB, FAT32 format only) into the USB port on the front of the unit.
  2. Press the Mode/EQ button until "USB" appears on the LCD display.
  3. Playback will begin automatically. Use the Skip/Search buttons to navigate tracks and the Repeat button for playback options.

5.5 AUX Input

Connect external audio sources using the 3.5mm AUX input.

  1. Connect one end of a 3.5mm audio cable (not included) to the AUX input port on the front of the boombox.
  2. Connect the other end of the cable to the headphone jack or audio output of your external device (e.g., MP3 player, phone).
  3. Press the Mode/EQ button until "AUX" appears on the LCD display.
  4. Control playback and volume directly from your external device.

5.6 Headphone Use

For private listening, connect headphones to the dedicated jack.

  1. Plug your 3.5mm headphones into the "PHONES" jack on the front of the unit.
  2. The external speakers will automatically mute.
  3. Adjust the volume using the Volume Knob.

7. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the unit. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • CD Lens Care: Avoid touching the CD lens inside the compartment. Use a specialized CD lens cleaner if necessary.
  • Battery Replacement: Replace all batteries simultaneously with new ones of the same type. Remove batteries if the unit will not be used for an extended period.
  • Storage: Store the unit in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.

8. Troubleshooting

  • No Power: Ensure the AC cord is securely plugged into both the unit and a working outlet, or that batteries are correctly inserted and not depleted.
  • No Sound: Check the volume level. Ensure headphones are not plugged in if you intend to use the speakers. Verify the correct mode (CD, FM, BT, USB, AUX) is selected.
  • CD Skipping/Not Playing: Ensure the CD is clean and free of scratches. Make sure the CD is inserted correctly with the label side up.
  • Poor FM Reception: Extend and adjust the FM antenna. Try repositioning the unit for better signal.
  • Bluetooth Pairing Issues: Ensure the boombox is in Bluetooth mode and discoverable. Disable and re-enable Bluetooth on your device, then try pairing again. Make sure no other devices are currently connected to the boombox.
  • USB Not Reading: Ensure the USB drive is formatted to FAT32 and contains MP3/WMA files. Check that the USB drive is inserted correctly.
