Parent Unit

The parent unit features a 5-inch LCD screen for clear video monitoring. It includes controls for pan, tilt, zoom, two-way talk, and menu navigation.

Baby Unit (Camera)

The baby unit is equipped with a camera that offers remote pan, tilt, and zoom capabilities. It also includes infrared LEDs for night vision, a microphone for audio detection, a speaker for two-way talk and playing lullabies, and a temperature sensor.

Installation and Setup

Connecting the Baby Unit

  1. Place the baby unit in a location that provides a clear view of your baby, but at least 3 feet (0.9 meters) away from the crib.
  2. Plug the small end of the baby unit power adapter into the power jack on the back of the baby unit.
  3. Plug the large end of the power adapter into a wall outlet. The baby unit will power on automatically.

Connecting the Parent Unit

  1. Plug the small end of the parent unit power adapter into the power jack on the side of the parent unit.
  2. Plug the large end of the power adapter into a wall outlet.
  3. Charge the parent unit battery for at least 12 hours before initial use. A fully charged battery provides up to 17 hours of video streaming or 31 hours in audio-only mode.

Mounting the Baby Unit (Optional)

The baby unit can be wall-mounted using the included bracket and screws. Ensure the mounting location is secure and provides an optimal viewing angle.

Operating the Monitor

Power On/Off

Screen Display Icons

The parent unit screen displays various icons indicating status, such as signal strength, battery level, temperature, and active features.

Pan, Tilt, and Zoom

Use the navigation buttons on the parent unit to remotely adjust the camera's view:

The baby unit camera offers a 360-degree panoramic view, 132-degree tilt, and 2x digital zoom, controllable from the parent unit.

Two-Way Talk

To speak to your baby through the baby unit's speaker:

  1. Press and hold the TALK button on the parent unit.
  2. Speak clearly into the microphone on the parent unit.
  3. Release the TALK button to hear your baby again.

Night Vision

The baby unit automatically activates infrared night vision in low-light conditions, providing a clear black-and-white image on the parent unit.

Soothing Sounds and Lullabies

The baby unit can play five calming melodies and four soft ambient sounds to help soothe your baby. Access these options through the parent unit's menu.

Temperature Monitoring

The baby unit includes a temperature sensor that monitors the nursery's ambient temperature. This reading is displayed on the parent unit's screen, allowing you to ensure your baby's comfort.

VOX (Sound Activation) Mode

In VOX mode, the parent unit's screen can be set to turn off automatically to save power and reduce light disturbance. The screen will reactivate when the baby unit detects sound above a set sensitivity level. The 3-level color indicator lights on the parent unit also visually alert you to sound levels.

Range and Secured Transmission

The VTech VM924 offers a long-range transmission of up to 1,000 feet (300 meters) in optimal conditions. It uses a secure, encrypted signal (2.4GHz FHSS) to ensure privacy and prevent unauthorized access to your monitoring feed. No Wi-Fi or app is required for operation.

Care and Maintenance

Troubleshooting

Poor picture quality/staticMove the parent unit closer to the baby unit. Avoid placing units near other electronic devices that may cause interference.
Parent unit battery drains quicklyEnsure the battery is fully charged. Reduce screen brightness or use VOX mode to conserve power. Battery life naturally decreases over time.
Cannot pan/tilt/zoom cameraCheck the connection between the parent and baby units. Ensure the baby unit is not obstructed.
No two-way talk functionEnsure the TALK button is pressed and held correctly. Check volume settings on both units.
