Before First Use

  1. Unpack the coffee maker and remove all packaging materials.
  2. Wash the glass carafe, reusable filter, and filter basket in warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry.
  3. Wipe the exterior of the coffee maker with a damp cloth.
  4. Run a full cycle with only water to clean the internal components. Fill the water reservoir to the 12-cup mark, place the empty carafe on the warming plate, and press the START/STOP button. Discard the water after the cycle.

Setup

  1. Place the coffee maker on a flat, stable surface.
  2. Ensure the power cord is securely plugged into a grounded electrical outlet.
  3. Open the water reservoir lid and fill the reservoir with fresh, cold water using the carafe. Refer to the water level indicator on the side of the unit for desired cups. Do not exceed the 12-cup maximum fill line.
  4. Insert the charcoal water filter into its holder (if not already installed).
  5. Place the reusable gold-tone filter into the filter basket.
  6. Add desired amount of ground coffee into the reusable filter. A general guideline is one tablespoon of ground coffee per cup, but adjust to personal preference.
  7. Close the water reservoir lid securely.
  8. Place the empty glass carafe onto the warming plate.

Operating Instructions

Setting the Clock

  1. When the coffee maker is plugged in, the LCD display will flash '12:00 AM'.
  2. Press the 'Hr' button to set the hour. Hold to advance quickly.
  3. Press the 'Min' button to set the minutes. Hold to advance quickly.
  4. The clock will automatically set after a few seconds of inactivity.

Brewing Coffee (Standard)

  1. Ensure the coffee maker is set up as described in the 'Setup' section.
  2. Press the 'START/STOP' button. The indicator light will illuminate, and brewing will begin.
  3. The coffee maker will automatically shut off after 2 hours of keeping warm.

Brewing Coffee (Bold)

For a stronger, richer coffee, use the 'Bold' setting.

  1. After setting up the coffee maker, press the '1-4 Cup' button once. This button also functions as the 'Bold' setting for full pots. The indicator light for '1-4 Cup' will illuminate.
  2. Press the 'START/STOP' button. The coffee maker will brew at a slower rate to extract more flavor.

Using the Programmable Timer

The programmable timer allows you to set the coffee maker to start brewing at a specific time.

  1. Set the current time on the clock as described above.
  2. Prepare the coffee maker with water and ground coffee.
  3. Press the 'Program' button. The display will show 'Program Time'.
  4. Use the 'Hr' and 'Min' buttons to set your desired brew time.
  5. Press the 'Program' button again to confirm. The 'Auto On' indicator light will illuminate.
  6. The coffee maker will automatically start brewing at the programmed time.

Pause and Pour Function

The automatic Pause and Pour function allows you to temporarily remove the carafe during the brewing cycle to pour a cup of coffee. The coffee flow will stop for approximately 20 seconds. Return the carafe to the warming plate within 20 seconds to prevent overflowing of the filter basket.

General Cleaning

Replacing the Water Filter

  1. The charcoal water filter should be replaced every 60 days or after 60 brewing cycles, whichever comes first.
  2. To replace, open the water reservoir lid.
  3. Remove the old filter from its holder.
  4. Soak the new charcoal water filter in cold water for 15 minutes.
  5. Insert the soaked filter into the filter holder.
  6. Press and hold the 'Filter Reset' button on the control panel for 3 seconds to reset the filter counter.
