5.1. Prepare the Case

  2. Remove the side panels by unscrewing the thumbscrews at the rear of the case and sliding the panels backward.

5.2. Motherboard Installation

  1. Install the I/O shield into the rear opening of the case. Ensure it snaps securely into place.
  2. Align the motherboard with the pre-installed standoffs. If your motherboard requires additional standoffs, install them now from the accessory box.
  3. Carefully place the motherboard onto the standoffs, ensuring the I/O ports align with the I/O shield.
  4. Secure the motherboard with the provided screws. Do not overtighten.

5.3. Power Supply Unit (PSU) Installation

  1. Locate the PSU mounting area, typically at the bottom rear of the case.
  2. Slide the PSU into position, ensuring the fan faces the correct direction (usually downwards for cases with bottom vents, or upwards if no bottom vent).
  3. Secure the PSU to the case with the provided screws from the rear.

5.4. Storage Drive Installation (HDD/SSD)

The SAMA S88-BK R case supports various storage configurations. Refer to the case's internal structure for specific drive bay locations.

5.5. Expansion Card Installation (e.g., Graphics Card)

  1. Remove the necessary PCI-E slot covers from the rear of the case.
  2. Align your expansion card with the PCI-E slot on the motherboard.
  3. Press down firmly until the card is seated correctly.
  4. Secure the card with the provided screw or retention clip.

5.6. Cable Management

Route all cables (power, data, front panel) through the designated cutouts and tie-down points behind the motherboard tray. This improves airflow and aesthetics.

  1. Connect the 24-pin ATX power cable and 8-pin (or 4+4-pin) CPU power cable to the motherboard.
  2. Connect SATA power and data cables to your storage drives.
  3. Connect front panel cables (Power SW, Reset SW, HDD LED, Power LED, USB, Audio) to the corresponding headers on your motherboard. Refer to your motherboard manual for pin assignments.
  4. Connect any additional power cables for your graphics card or other components.

6. Operating Instructions

Once all components are installed and cables are connected, you can power on your system.

  1. Ensure all side panels are securely re-attached.
  2. Connect your monitor, keyboard, mouse, and other peripherals to the rear I/O ports of your motherboard.
  3. Connect the power cord to the PSU and then to a wall outlet.
  4. Flip the power switch on the PSU to the "ON" position.
  5. Press the power button on the front panel of the SAMA S88-BK R case to start your computer.

7. Maintenance

Regular maintenance helps ensure optimal performance and longevity of your PC components.

7.1. Cleaning

  • Exterior: Use a soft, damp cloth to wipe down the exterior surfaces. Avoid harsh chemicals.
  • Interior: Periodically (every 3-6 months, depending on environment) open the case and use compressed air to remove dust from fans, heatsinks, and other components. Hold fan blades gently to prevent over-spinning.
  • Dust Filters: If your case has removable dust filters, clean them regularly by rinsing with water and allowing them to dry completely before re-installing.

7.2. Fan Maintenance

Ensure all case fans are free from obstructions and spinning correctly. Replace any noisy or malfunctioning fans to maintain proper airflow.

8. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues, refer to the following common troubleshooting steps:

  • System does not power on:
    • Check if the PSU is connected to the wall outlet and the PSU switch is ON.
    • Ensure the 24-pin ATX and 8-pin CPU power cables are securely connected to the motherboard.
    • Verify the front panel power switch cable is correctly connected to the motherboard header.
  • No display on monitor:
    • Ensure the monitor is connected to the graphics card (or motherboard integrated graphics) and powered on.
    • Reseat the graphics card and RAM modules.
  • Overheating:
    • Check if all case fans and CPU cooler fan are spinning.
    • Clean dust filters and internal components.
