Setup

  1. Unpacking: Carefully remove all packaging materials and ensure all components listed above are present.
  2. Placement: Place the espresso machine on a flat, stable, and dry surface, away from heat sources and direct sunlight. Ensure there is enough space around the machine for ventilation and operation.
  3. Water Tank Installation: Fill the 34 oz removable water tank with fresh, cold water. Ensure the water level is between the MIN and MAX marks. Insert the water tank securely into its position at the back of the machine.
  4. Initial Cleaning: Before first use, run a few cycles of hot water through the machine without coffee to clean the internal components. Fill the water tank, place a cup under the portafilter, and turn on the machine. Once preheated, press the 1-cup or 2-cup button to dispense hot water. Repeat this process for the steam wand by turning the steam knob to the WATER position.
  5. Preheating: Plug the machine into a grounded electrical outlet. Press the "On/Off" button. The indicator lights will illuminate, and the machine will begin to preheat. Wait until the indicator lights stop flashing and remain solid, indicating the machine is ready for use.

Operating Instructions

Making Espresso

  1. Prepare Coffee Grounds: Use freshly ground coffee beans. For optimal results, grind coffee to a fine consistency suitable for espresso.
  2. Fill Portafilter: Insert either the one-cup or two-cup filter into the portafilter. Add the desired amount of ground coffee into the filter. For a single shot, use the one-cup filter; for a double shot, use the two-cup filter.
  3. Tamp Coffee: Use the included tamper to firmly press the coffee grounds. Ensure the coffee bed is level and compacted. Proper tamping is crucial for good extraction.
  4. Attach Portafilter: Align the portafilter with the group head on the machine and twist it firmly to the right until it is securely locked in place.
  5. Place Cup: Place one or two espresso cups on the drip tray directly under the portafilter spouts. The built-in cup warmer on top of the machine can be used to preheat your cups.
  6. Brew Espresso: Once the machine is preheated (indicator lights solid), press the "1 CUP" button for a single espresso shot or the "2 CUP" button for a double espresso shot. The machine will automatically stop when the programmed volume is reached.

Milk Frothing

  1. Prepare Milk: Fill a stainless steel frothing pitcher with cold milk (dairy or non-dairy) to about one-third full.
  2. Activate Steam Function: Press the "STEAM" button. The steam indicator light will flash and then become solid when the machine reaches the optimal temperature for steaming.
  3. Purge Steam Wand: Before frothing, turn the steam knob counter-clockwise to release a small amount of steam into the drip tray or a separate cup. This purges any condensed water from the wand. Turn the knob back to the "OFF" position.
  4. Froth Milk: Immerse the tip of the steam wand just below the surface of the milk in the pitcher. Turn the steam knob counter-clockwise to activate the steam. Move the pitcher slowly up and down to create microfoam. Once the desired texture and temperature are achieved (pitcher is hot to touch), turn the steam knob to the "OFF" position and remove the pitcher.
  5. Clean Steam Wand: Immediately wipe the steam wand with a damp cloth to remove any milk residue. Purge the steam wand again briefly to clear any internal milk.
  6. Combine: Pour the frothed milk into your espresso to create lattes, cappuccinos, or other milk-based drinks.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning the Drip Tray: The drip tray should be emptied and cleaned regularly. Pull out the drip tray, discard the water, and wash it with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry before reinserting.
  • Cleaning the Water Tank: The water tank should be cleaned periodically. Remove it from the machine, wash with warm, soapy water, rinse well, and dry.
  • Cleaning the Portafilter and Filters: After each use, remove the portafilter and discard the used coffee grounds. Rinse the portafilter and filter basket under running water. For thorough cleaning, use a small brush to remove any coffee residue.
  • Descaling: Over time, mineral deposits can build up inside the machine, affecting performance. Descaling should be performed regularly, depending on water hardness and frequency of use. Refer to the full User Guide (PDF) for detailed descaling instructions.
