Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your RE705X, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
| Problem | Solution |
|---|---|
| Extender not powering on. | Ensure the power adapter is securely plugged into both the extender and a working electrical outlet. Try a different outlet. |
| Cannot connect to the extender's Wi-Fi network. | Verify that the extender is powered on and the Wi-Fi LED is active. Try restarting the extender. Ensure you are selecting the correct extended network name (SSID). |
| Poor signal strength or frequent disconnections. | Relocate the extender closer to your main router. Check the Signal LED on the extender; a solid blue light indicates a good connection. Avoid placing the extender near large metal objects, concrete walls, or other devices that emit radio frequency interference (e.g., microwaves, cordless phones). |
| Extended network has no internet access. | Ensure your main router has internet access. Reconfigure the extender to ensure it is properly connected to your main router's network. Restart both the router and the extender. |
| WPS setup failed. | Try pressing the WPS button on your router and then on the extender again. Ensure the WPS process is completed within two minutes. If it continues to fail, use the TP-Link Tether app or web browser method for setup. |
