4. Setup

Follow these steps to set up your pressure washer for first use.

  1. Unpacking: Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Check for any damage during transit.
  2. Handle Assembly: Extend the aluminum handle to its full operating position. Ensure it locks securely into place.
  3. Water Supply Connection: Connect a garden hose (not included) to the water inlet on the pressure washer. Ensure the water filter is clean and properly inserted. Connect the other end of the garden hose to a water tap.
  4. High-Pressure Hose Connection: Connect the high-pressure hose to the high-pressure outlet on the unit and to the high-pressure gun. Ensure all connections are secure.
  5. Lance Attachment: Attach the desired lance (Vario Power or Dirt Blaster) to the high-pressure gun by twisting it into place until it clicks.
  6. Power Connection: Plug the power cord into a suitable grounded electrical outlet. Ensure the outlet is protected by a GFCI.
  7. Priming the Pump: Before turning on the unit, turn on the water tap completely. Squeeze the trigger on the high-pressure gun to allow air to escape and water to flow through the system until a steady stream of water emerges. This primes the pump and prevents damage.

5. Operation

Operating your Kärcher K 7 Premium Power pressure washer is straightforward once set up.

5.1 Starting and Stopping

  • To Start: After priming, turn the main switch on the unit to the 'ON' position. The motor will start when the trigger on the high-pressure gun is squeezed.
  • To Stop: Release the trigger. The motor will stop. For extended breaks or when finished, turn the main switch to the 'OFF' position and turn off the water supply.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your pressure washer.

  • Cleaning the Water Filter: Regularly check and clean the water inlet filter to prevent debris from entering the pump. Remove the filter, rinse it under running water, and reinsert it.
  • Nozzle Cleaning: If the nozzle becomes clogged, use the cleaning needle (if provided) to clear any obstructions.
  • Winter Storage: If storing the unit in an area where temperatures may drop below freezing, it is crucial to drain all water from the pump, hose, and accessories to prevent damage from freezing. Run an anti-freeze solution through the pump if recommended by Kärcher.
  • General Cleaning: Wipe down the exterior of the unit with a damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
