Setup

Before first use, unpack the toaster and remove all packaging materials. Place the toaster on a stable, heat-resistant surface, away from walls, curtains, and other flammable materials. Ensure there is adequate ventilation around the appliance.

It is recommended to operate the toaster for the first time without bread on the highest setting (6) to burn off any manufacturing residues. A slight odor or smoke may be present during this initial use; this is normal and will dissipate. Allow the toaster to cool completely before subsequent use.

Operating Instructions

The Haden Heritage Toaster offers intuitive controls for perfect toasting results.

1. Insert Bread: Place up to two slices of bread, bagels, or waffles into the wide toasting slots. The self-centering guides will automatically adjust to hold the bread in the optimal position for even browning.
2. Select Browning Level: Use the browning control dial on the front of the toaster to select your desired toast shade, from 1 (lightest) to 6 (darkest). The dial provides a tactile click for precise selection.

3. Lower Lever: Push the toast lever down until it locks into place. The toasting cycle will begin, and the indicator light for the selected function (if any) will illuminate.
4. Special Functions:
   • CANCEL Button: Press this button at any time to stop the toasting cycle and eject the bread.
   • BAGEL Button: Press this button after lowering the lever to toast bagels. This setting toasts the cut side of the bagel while gently warming the outer side.
   • DEFROST Button: Press this button after lowering the lever to defrost and toast frozen bread. This setting adds extra time to the toasting cycle to account for the frozen state of the bread.
5. Toasting Complete: Once the toasting cycle is complete, the toast will automatically pop up. The high-lift lever allows for easy removal of smaller items without burning your fingers.

Maintenance and Cleaning

Regular cleaning will help maintain the performance and appearance of your toaster.

1. Unplug and Cool: Always unplug the toaster from the power outlet and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.
2. Empty Crumb Tray: The toaster features a removable crumb tray located at the bottom. Slide out the tray, discard crumbs, and wipe it clean with a damp cloth. Ensure the tray is completely dry before reinserting it.

3. Clean Exterior: Wipe the exterior of the toaster with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or metal scouring pads, as these can scratch the surface. For stubborn marks, a mild detergent can be used, followed by wiping with a clean, damp cloth and drying thoroughly.
4. Do Not Immerse: Never immerse the toaster, power cord, or plug in water or any other liquid.
