Setup and Installation

Before beginning installation, ensure your computer system is powered off and disconnected from the main power supply.

  1. Mounting the Hub: Use the included adhesive Velcro to securely fix the fan hub inside your PC chassis. This allows for optimal cable management and keeps the hub firmly in place.
  2. Power Connection: Connect the SATA power cable from your power supply unit (PSU) to the SATA (DC IN) port on the fan hub. This provides stable power to all connected fans and ARGB devices.
  3. Fan Connections: Connect your 4-pin PWM fans to the 'FAN' ports on the hub. The red port labeled 'FAN 1' is the RPM reading port; only the speed of the fan connected to this port can be read by the system.
  4. ARGB Device Connections: Connect your 3-pin ARGB devices to the 'LED' ports on the hub. The hub supports up to 200 LEDs. Note: This hub does not support 4-pin RGB devices.
  5. Motherboard Synchronization:
    • Connect the PWM/LED Signal Input cable from the hub to an available PWM fan header on your motherboard (e.g., CPU_FAN or CPU_OPT).
    • Connect the appropriate motherboard SYNC adapter cable (5V ARGB or 12V RGB) from the hub to the corresponding ARGB (3-pin, +5V) or RGB (4-pin, +12V) header on your motherboard.
    • Use the toggle switch on the hub to select between 5V ARGB or 12V RGB synchronization, depending on your motherboard's header type.

Operating Instructions

Once installed, the EZDIY-FAB ARGB PWM Fan Hub operates in conjunction with your motherboard's control software.

  • Fan Speed Control: Fan speeds are regulated by the PWM signal from your motherboard. You can adjust fan curves and speeds through your motherboard's BIOS or dedicated software. Only the fan connected to the 'FAN 1' port will report its RPM data to the system.
  • ARGB Lighting Control: The hub synchronizes with your motherboard's ARGB/RGB lighting software (e.g., ASUS Aura Sync, GIGABYTE RGB Fusion, MSI Mystic Light Sync, ASRock Polychrome Sync). Use your motherboard's software to customize lighting effects and colors for all connected ARGB devices.
  • Lighting System Selection: The toggle switch on the hub allows you to select between 5V ARGB and 12V RGB lighting systems for synchronization. Ensure this switch matches the type of RGB header on your motherboard.

Maintenance

To ensure optimal performance and longevity of your EZDIY-FAB ARGB PWM Fan Hub:

  • Keep the hub and connected cables free from dust buildup. Periodically clean with compressed air.
  • Ensure proper airflow within your PC case to prevent overheating of components, including the fan hub.
  • Avoid exposing the hub to excessive moisture or extreme temperatures.

Troubleshooting

  • Fans not spinning or running at maximum RPM:
    • Ensure the SATA power cable is securely connected to both the hub and the PSU.
    • Verify that 4-pin PWM fans are connected. 3-pin fans will run at maximum RPM as the hub's speed control function is designed for PWM signals.
    • Check the connection of the PWM signal input cable to the motherboard.
  • ARGB lighting not working or incorrect colors:
    • Confirm that the ARGB devices are 3-pin (+5V) ARGB. The hub does not support 4-pin (+12V) RGB devices.
    • Ensure the motherboard SYNC adapter cable is correctly connected to the appropriate ARGB/RGB header on your motherboard.
    • Verify the toggle switch on the hub is set to match your motherboard's ARGB (5V) or RGB (12V) header type.
    • This hub has no built-in color modes; lighting control relies entirely on your motherboard's software. Ensure the motherboard software is installed and configured correctly.
  • Only one fan RPM is reported: This is normal operation. Only the fan connected to the 'FAN 1' (red) port reports its RPM data to the system.
  • Hub not recognized by motherboard: Ensure all cables (SATA power, PWM signal, ARGB/RGB sync) are firmly connected. Power cycle your PC.
