Needed to Complete
To operate your Sonicwake V2, you will need the following items, which are not included:

Setup
Before your first run, proper setup is crucial for performance and longevity.
1. Drive Shaft Lubrication
It is critical to lubricate the drive shaft before the first use and after every subsequent use. Failure to do so can lead to excessive wear, vibration, and potential damage to the driveline components. Use marine-grade grease specifically designed for RC boat drive shafts.

2. Battery Installation
Install the required AA batteries into the Spektrum SLT3 2CH 2.4GHz DSMR Radio System transmitter. Then, carefully install the two charged boat batteries into the designated battery trays inside the hull. Ensure they are securely fastened to prevent shifting during operation.

3. Radio System Binding
Ensure your Spektrum SLT3 transmitter is properly bound to the Spektrum SR315 Dual Protocol Receiver in the boat. Refer to the separate radio system manual for detailed binding instructions if needed.
Operating Your Sonicwake V2
The Sonicwake V2 is designed for high-speed performance and features a self-righting hull.
Self-Righting Feature
In the event the boat flips over during operation, the self-righting hull design allows it to automatically return to an upright position. This feature is particularly useful when operating far from shore or in challenging water conditions.

Battery Low Voltage Indication
The Spektrum 120A Marine ESC is programmed to provide a low voltage cutoff. When the battery voltage reaches a critical level, the ESC will give 3-4 quick pulses at very low RPM to indicate that the battery is nearly depleted and it's time to return the boat to shore.
Monitoring Temperatures
It is highly recommended to monitor the temperature of the ESC, motor, and batteries, especially during extended high-speed runs. Excessive heat can damage components. If temperatures are too high, allow the components to cool before continuing operation.

Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your Sonicwake V2.
Drive Shaft Lubrication
As mentioned in setup, re-lubricate the drive shaft after each use. This is crucial for preventing wear and maintaining smooth operation. Remove the shaft, apply marine grease, and reassemble.

Hull Sealing and Water Management
While the receiver is housed in a sealed box, small amounts of water may enter the hull during aggressive operation or if the boat flips. This is normal. After each use, open the hatch, inspect for water, and dry the interior thoroughly. Consider using marine-grade hatch tape for an extra seal, especially if operating in rough conditions.
General Cleaning
After each use, clean the exterior of the boat to remove any debris, dirt, or salt residue (if operated in saltwater). Use a soft cloth and fresh water. Ensure all moving parts are free of obstructions.
Troubleshooting
This section addresses common issues you might encounter with your Sonicwake V2.
Driveline Vibration or Squeaking
Issue: A vibrating or squeaking sound from the driveline, especially at higher speeds.
Solution: This is often caused by insufficient lubrication of the drive shaft. Ensure the drive shaft is thoroughly greased before and after each use. If the issue persists, inspect the shaft and propeller for any damage or misalignment.
ESC/Motor Overheating
Issue: The Electronic Speed Controller (ESC) or motor becomes excessively hot during operation.
Solution: Monitor temperatures regularly. Avoid prolonged full-throttle runs, especially in warm conditions. Ensure the water cooling system is functioning correctly and that the water intake and outlet are clear of debris. If using 6S batteries, ensure your ESC is rated to handle the increased power and heat; some users report needing upgraded ESCs for consistent 6S operation.
Unresponsive Turning (to Port)
Issue: The boat turns less effectively to one side (often port) compared to the other.
Solution: This can sometimes be attributed to the rudder size or design. While not an official modification, some users have found that installing a slightly longer rudder can improve turning responsiveness.
Water Inside Hull
Issue: Small amounts of water are found inside the hull after operation.
Solution: This is generally normal for RC boats, especially high-speed models. The receiver is housed in a sealed box for protection. Ensure the main hatch is properly secured. For added protection, consider using marine-grade hatch tape around the hatch seal. Always dry the interior thoroughly after each use.
