4. Setup and Installation
4.1 Mounting the Camera
The camera is designed for ceiling mount installation. Ensure the mounting surface is strong enough to support the camera's weight.
- Choose a suitable location for optimal surveillance coverage.
- Use the provided mounting template (if applicable) or the camera base to mark the drill holes on the ceiling.
- Drill pilot holes and insert wall plugs if necessary.
- Secure the camera base to the mounting surface using the provided screws.
- Adjust the camera angle for desired viewing.
4.2 Power and Network Connection
The camera supports Power over Ethernet (PoE) for simplified wiring.
- Connect an Ethernet cable from a PoE-enabled switch or NVR to the camera's RJ-45 port. This will provide both power and network connectivity.
- Alternatively, if PoE is not available, connect a DC12V power adapter (not included) to the camera's 'Power In' port and an Ethernet cable to the RJ-45 port for network connection.
- Ensure all cable connections are secure and protected from environmental elements.
4.3 Initial Configuration
After physical installation and power-up, the camera needs initial network configuration.
- Connect your computer to the same network as the camera.
- Use the PROVISION ISR IP Camera Search Tool (available on the manufacturer's website) to discover the camera's IP address.
- Open a web browser and enter the camera's IP address to access its web interface.
- Log in using the default credentials (refer to the camera's quick start guide or manufacturer's documentation for default username and password).
- Change the default password immediately for security purposes.
- Configure network settings (IP address, subnet mask, gateway, DNS) as required by your network environment.
- Set up date and time, and time zone.
5. Operating the Camera
5.1 Live View and Recording
Access live video streams and manage recording settings through the web interface or compatible NVR/mobile applications.
- Web Interface: Log in to the camera's web interface to view live video, adjust image settings (brightness, contrast, saturation), and configure recording schedules.
- NVR System: Add the camera to your Network Video Recorder (NVR) system for centralized management, recording, and playback. Refer to your NVR's manual for camera addition procedures.
- Mobile Application: Download the official PROVISION ISR mobile application (available for iOS and Android) to view live feeds, receive alerts, and access recorded footage remotely.
- SD Card Recording: If an SD card is installed, configure recording settings (continuous, motion-triggered, scheduled) via the web interface.
5.2 Motion Detection and Alerts
The camera features smart motion detection to trigger alerts and recordings.
- Navigate to the 'Event' or 'Alarm' settings in the camera's web interface or NVR.
- Enable motion detection and define detection zones within the camera's field of view.
- Adjust sensitivity levels to minimize false alarms.
- Configure alert actions, such as sending email notifications, pushing notifications to the mobile app, or triggering NVR recording.
5.3 Night Vision Operation
The camera automatically switches to infrared (IR) mode in low-light conditions.
- The built-in IR LEDs provide illumination for clear black-and-white video up to 60 meters in complete darkness.
- Ensure there are no obstructions directly in front of the IR LEDs that could cause reflection and degrade night vision quality.
6. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your camera.
- Lens Cleaning: Gently wipe the camera lens with a soft, clean cloth. For stubborn dirt, use a lens cleaning solution designed for optical surfaces. Do not use abrasive cleaners.
- Housing Cleaning: Clean the camera housing with a damp cloth. Avoid using strong detergents or solvents.
- Firmware Updates: Periodically check the PROVISION ISR official website for firmware updates. Firmware updates can improve performance, add new features, and enhance security. Follow the provided instructions carefully when performing updates.
- Cable Inspection: Regularly inspect all cables for signs of wear, damage, or corrosion, especially for outdoor installations.
- Environmental Check: Ensure the camera's mounting remains secure and that its IP67 rating is not compromised by physical damage or improper sealing.
7. Troubleshooting
This section addresses common issues you might encounter.
7.1 No Power / Camera Not Turning On
- Check PoE Connection: Ensure the Ethernet cable is securely connected to a PoE-enabled switch/NVR and that the PoE port is active.
- Check Power Adapter: If using a separate power adapter, verify it is correctly connected and providing the correct voltage (DC12V). Test the power outlet.
- Cable Integrity: Inspect the Ethernet cable for any damage or breaks. Try a different cable.
7.2 No Video / Offline Camera
- Network Connectivity: Verify the camera has a valid IP address and can be pinged from your network. Check network cable connections.
- IP Address Conflict: Ensure no other device on your network is using the same IP address as the camera.
- NVR/Software Configuration: Confirm the camera is correctly added and configured in your NVR or surveillance software.
- Firewall Settings: Check if any firewall on your network or computer is blocking communication with the camera.
- Reboot: Power cycle the camera and the network device (switch/router/NVR) it is connected to.
7.3 Poor Image Quality
- Clean Lens: Ensure the camera lens is clean and free from dust, smudges, or water droplets.
- Lighting Conditions: Verify adequate lighting in the surveillance area. For night vision, ensure no strong light sources are directly facing the camera.
- Network Bandwidth: Insufficient network bandwidth can cause choppy or low-quality video. Check your network speed.
- Resolution Settings: Confirm the camera's resolution settings are configured to 2MP (1920x1080) in the web interface or NVR.
7.4 Motion Detection Not Working / False Alarms
- Enable Detection: Ensure motion detection is enabled in the camera's settings.
- Detection Zone: Verify the detection zone covers the desired area.
- Sensitivity: Adjust the motion detection sensitivity. Lower sensitivity for fewer false alarms, higher for more precise detection.
- Environmental Factors: Moving trees, shadows, or sudden changes in light can trigger false alarms. Adjust detection zones or sensitivity accordingly.
