1. Introduction

2. Setup and Installation

2.1 Package Contents

The Cardo PACKTALK Edge Dual Pack includes:

  • 2 x PACKTALK Edge Communication Units
  • 2 x Motorcycle Helmet Communication Systems (speakers, microphone, clamps)
  • USB-C Charging Cables
  • Mounting Accessories

2.2 Mounting the Unit

The PACKTALK Edge features a magnetic Air Mount for secure and easy attachment to your helmet. It is designed to fit all helmet types, though a Half Helmet Kit may be sold separately for specific helmet styles.

  1. Choose an appropriate mounting location on the side of your helmet, ensuring it does not obstruct your vision or helmet functionality.
  2. Attach the helmet clamp or adhesive plate securely to the helmet.
  3. Connect the speakers and microphone to the unit and route the cables neatly within the helmet padding.
  4. Align the PACKTALK Edge unit with the magnetic mount until it clicks securely into place.

2.3 Initial Charging

Before first use, fully charge your PACKTALK Edge unit. Connect the supplied USB Type C cable to the unit and a power source. A full charge takes approximately 200 minutes. For quick use, 20 minutes of charging provides up to 2 hours of talk time.

2.4 Pairing with Devices

The PACKTALK Edge supports Bluetooth 5.2 for stable connections.

2.4.1 Smartphone Pairing

  1. Turn on your PACKTALK Edge unit.
  2. Enable Bluetooth on your smartphone.
  3. Follow the pairing instructions in the Cardo Connect App or the unit's manual to connect.

2.4.2 Intercom Pairing (DMC & Bluetooth)

The PACKTALK Edge features 2nd Generation Dynamic Mesh Communication (DMC) for superior group intercom, and also supports universal Bluetooth intercom for connecting with other brands.

3. Operating the PACKTALK Edge

3.1 Controls and Interface

The PACKTALK Edge features an intuitive control roller and minimal buttons for easy operation, even with gloves.

3.2 Natural Voice Operation

Control your PACKTALK Edge completely hands-free using natural voice commands. Simply say "Hey Cardo" followed by your command. This feature allows you to keep your hands on the handlebars and eyes on the road.

3.3 Audio Features

  • JBL Sound: Experience enhanced speaker clarity and sound quality, powered by JBL.
  • Music Streaming: Stream music from your smartphone. You can control, share, and experience your favorite tunes.
  • FM Radio: Access the built-in FM radio with RDS.

4. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your PACKTALK Edge, follow these maintenance guidelines:

  • Cleaning: Wipe the unit with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
  • Storage: Store the unit in a cool, dry place when not in use. Avoid extreme temperatures.
  • Charging: Use only the provided USB-C cable for charging.

5. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your PACKTALK Edge, try the following steps:

  • No Power: Ensure the unit is fully charged. Connect it to a power source and check the charging indicator.
  • No Sound/Poor Sound Quality:
    • Check speaker connections and ensure they are properly seated in the helmet.
    • Verify volume levels on both the unit and your connected device.
    • Ensure the microphone is positioned correctly.
  • Pairing Issues:
    • Ensure both devices are in pairing mode.
    • Clear previous pairings from both devices and attempt to pair again.
    • Restart both the PACKTALK Edge and the device you are trying to pair.
  • Unit Unresponsive: Perform a soft reset by holding down the main control button for 10 seconds. If the issue persists, refer to the full User Manual for a hard reset procedure.
