Setup and Installation
The Start-X remote starter kit is designed for a simplified plug-and-play installation, typically taking around 5 minutes. No wire splicing or cutting is involved.
Installation Steps:
- Prepare Vehicle: Ensure your vehicle is turned off and the parking brake is engaged.
- Locate BCM: Identify the Body Control Module (BCM) in your Chevrolet Spark. This is typically located behind the dashboard or near the fuse box. Refer to your vehicle's service manual if unsure.
- Connect T-Harness: The kit includes a T-harness. Connect the T-harness directly to the BCM. This harness is designed to integrate seamlessly with your vehicle's existing wiring without modifications.
- Connect Remote Start Module: Plug the Start-X remote start module into the T-harness.
- Secure Module: Secure the remote start module in a safe location behind the dashboard, ensuring it does not interfere with any moving parts or vehicle controls.
Module Pairing (Windows PC Required):
After physical installation, the remote start module must be paired with your vehicle using a Windows computer.
- Download Software: On your Windows PC, visit the official Start-X website (refer to the product packaging or included documentation for the exact URL) and download the necessary pairing software.
- Connect Module to PC: Use the provided USB cable to connect the remote start module to your Windows PC.
- Follow On-Screen Instructions: Launch the downloaded software and follow the on-screen prompts to complete the pairing process. This typically involves a few simple steps to synchronize the module with your vehicle's system.
- Disconnect and Test: Once pairing is complete, safely disconnect the module from your PC. Proceed to the operating instructions section to test the remote starter functionality.
Operating Instructions
Once installed and paired, operating your Start-X remote starter is simple and uses your vehicle's existing factory remote.
To Remote Start Your Vehicle:
- Ensure your vehicle doors are closed and locked.
- Press the Lock button on your factory OEM remote three (3) times consecutively.
- After the third press, your vehicle's engine will start. The parking lights may illuminate to indicate successful remote start.
Important Notes:
- OEM Remote Functionality While Running: While the engine is running via remote start, your OEM remote will not be able to unlock the vehicle doors. You will need to insert the physical key into the door lock cylinder to unlock the vehicle.
- Entering the Vehicle: Once you unlock the vehicle with the key and open the door, insert your key into the ignition and turn it to the "ON" or "RUN" position before pressing the brake pedal. This will transfer control from the remote starter to the key.
- Remote Shut-off: To turn off the vehicle remotely, press the Lock button on your OEM remote three (3) times again. The vehicle will also shut off automatically after a preset idle time (typically 15 minutes) or if the brake pedal is pressed before the key is inserted.
Maintenance
The Start-X remote starter module is designed to be maintenance-free. No regular servicing is required.
- Keep the module and wiring free from moisture and extreme temperatures.
- Ensure all connections remain secure. Avoid tampering with the module or its wiring.
- If you experience any issues, refer to the troubleshooting section or contact customer support.
