5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Power On/Off and Volume Control
Turn the VOL/SQ knob clockwise to power on the radio. Continue turning to adjust the listening volume. To power off, turn the knob counter-clockwise until it clicks.
5.2 Channel Selection
Use the BAND knob to select the desired frequency band (A, B, C, D, E, F). Rotate the CLARIFIER knob to select channels within the chosen band. The display will show the channel number and frequency.
5.3 Mode Selection (AM/FM/USB/SSB/CW/PA)
Press the MODE button to cycle through the available modulation modes: AM (Amplitude Modulation), FM (Frequency Modulation), USB (Upper Sideband), LSB (Lower Sideband), CW (Continuous Wave), and PA (Public Address).

Figure 5.1: Visual representation of the various modulation modes supported by the radio.
5.4 Squelch Control (SQ/ASQ)
The VOL/SQ knob also controls the squelch. Rotate it to adjust the squelch level, which mutes weak signals to reduce background noise. The Automatic Squelch (ASQ) function can be activated for automatic noise reduction.
5.5 RF Gain Control
Adjust the RF GAIN knob to control the receiver's sensitivity. This helps in reducing interference from strong nearby signals.
5.6 Noise Blanker (NB) and Automatic Noise Limiter (ANL)
Press the NB/ANL button to activate or deactivate the Noise Blanker and Automatic Noise Limiter functions. These features help to suppress impulse noise, such as ignition noise from vehicles.
5.7 Roger Beep
The Roger Beep function provides an audible tone at the end of your transmission, signaling to other users that you have finished speaking. Activate or deactivate this feature as desired.
5.8 Programmable Channels
The radio supports 60 programmable channels per band. Refer to the detailed programming guide (available separately or via software) for instructions on customizing these channels.
6. Maintenance
- Keep the radio clean and free from dust. Use a soft, dry cloth for cleaning.
- Avoid exposing the radio to extreme temperatures, direct sunlight, or moisture.
- Ensure all connections (power, antenna, microphone) are secure before operation.
- Regularly check the antenna's SWR (Standing Wave Ratio) to ensure optimal performance and prevent damage to the radio.
7. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your CRT SS 6900 VOX CB Radio, consider the following:
- No Power: Check the power cord connection and ensure the vehicle's power source is active. Verify the fuse in the power cord is intact.
- No Reception/Transmission: Ensure the antenna is properly connected and tuned. Check the selected channel and mode. Adjust squelch and RF gain settings.
- Poor Audio Quality: Check microphone connection. Adjust volume and squelch. Ensure no strong interference is present.
- Display Issues: If the display is blank or erratic, try powering off and on again. If the issue persists, contact support.
