2. Setup

2.1 Unpacking and Initial Inspection

Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Inspect the tripod for any signs of damage. Ensure all parts, including the tripod body, leveling column, twist locks, and interchangeable feet, are present.

2.2 Attaching a Tripod Head

The TTOR34CLV features an Arca-Swiss compatible mounting platform. To attach your tripod head (not included), align the head's base with the mounting platform and secure it using the integrated screw. Ensure the head is firmly tightened to prevent movement during use.

2.3 Adjusting Leg Angles and Extension

Each leg can be independently adjusted to multiple angles for stability on uneven terrain or for low-angle shooting. To adjust, pull out the leg angle lock mechanism at the top of each leg and set the desired angle. Extend the legs by twisting the leg locks counter-clockwise to loosen, pulling out the leg sections, and then twisting clockwise to secure them firmly.

2.4 Using the Integrated Leveling Column

The TTOR34CLV includes an integrated leveling column with a ±15° adjustment range. This feature allows for quick and precise horizon leveling, which is particularly useful for video, panoramic, and architectural photography. Loosen the leveling column lock, adjust the platform until level, and then re-tighten the lock securely.

2.5 Attaching Interchangeable Feet

The tripod comes with interchangeable rubber and spiked feet. Rubber feet are suitable for indoor use or smooth surfaces, while spiked feet provide better grip on soft ground, ice, or uneven outdoor terrain. To change feet, simply unscrew the current feet and screw on the desired type.

3. Operating Instructions

3.1 Extending and Retracting Legs

The 4-section legs feature secure, weather-sealed twist locks. To extend a leg, twist each lock counter-clockwise until loose, pull the leg section to the desired length, and then twist clockwise to firmly secure. Ensure all leg sections are fully extended and locked for maximum stability. To retract, reverse the process.

3.2 Adjusting Leg Angles

Each leg can be set at independent angles. This allows for stable positioning on sloped surfaces or for achieving very low shooting perspectives. Press the leg angle lock tab at the top of each leg to release and adjust to one of the predefined angles, then ensure the tab clicks back into place to secure the angle.

3.3 Utilizing the Leveling Column

For video or panoramic photography, precise leveling is crucial. Loosen the knob on the integrated leveling column, adjust the camera platform until the bubble level (if your head has one) or your camera's internal level indicates a perfectly horizontal plane, then tighten the knob firmly to lock the position.

3.4 Mounting Camera Equipment

Once the tripod is stable and level, mount your camera or other equipment onto the attached tripod head. Always ensure your equipment is securely fastened to the head and the head is securely fastened to the tripod before releasing your grip.

4. Maintenance

4.1 Cleaning the Tripod

After use, especially in dusty, sandy, or wet environments, clean your tripod. Wipe down the carbon fiber legs with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals. For twist locks, it is crucial to keep them free of debris. If sand or dirt gets into the locking mechanism, it can affect performance and durability. Disassemble the leg sections if necessary (refer to Benro's official support for detailed instructions if unsure) to thoroughly clean the internal components of the twist locks. Ensure all parts are dry before reassembly.

4.2 Inspection

Regularly inspect all screws, joints, and locking mechanisms for tightness and wear. Tighten any loose screws. If any part appears damaged or excessively worn, contact Benro customer support for assistance or replacement parts.

4.3 Storage

When not in use, store the tripod in its padded carrying case in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Ensure the legs are fully retracted and all locks are lightly tightened to prevent accidental extension or damage.

5. Troubleshooting

5.1 Tripod Instability

  • Issue: Tripod feels wobbly or unstable.
  • Solution: Ensure all leg sections are fully extended and their twist locks are securely tightened. Verify that the leg angle locks are fully engaged. Check that the tripod is placed on a stable, even surface. If using spiked feet, ensure they are properly dug into the ground.

5.2 Difficulty Extending/Retracting Legs

  • Issue: Leg sections are stiff or difficult to move.
  • Solution: This often indicates dirt, sand, or grime within the twist lock mechanism. Refer to the Maintenance section (4.1) for cleaning instructions. Avoid forcing the legs, as this can cause damage.

5.3 Leveling Column Not Holding Position

  • Issue: The leveling platform shifts after being set.
  • Solution: Ensure the leveling column lock knob is fully tightened after adjusting the platform. Check for any debris that might be preventing a secure lock.
