2. Safety Information
Your HJC i20 helmet is DOT FMVSS 218 certified, meaning it has undergone rigorous testing to meet safety standards for energy absorption, penetration resistance, and chin strap structural integrity. Always wear a helmet that fits correctly and is securely fastened.
2.1 Proper Fit
A helmet must fit snugly to provide optimal protection. If the helmet is too loose, it may shift during an impact, reducing its protective capabilities. Refer to the size guide to ensure you have the correct size. The helmet should feel firm around your head and cheeks without causing uncomfortable pressure points.
2.2 Chin Strap
Always secure the double D-ring fastener firmly under your chin. The strap should be tight enough that you cannot remove the helmet by pulling it from the back or front.
2.3 Proposition 65 Warning
This product may expose you to chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm. For more information, visit www.P65Warnings.ca.gov.

4. Setup
4.1 Initial Inspection
Before first use, inspect your helmet for any signs of damage from shipping. Ensure all components, including the internal shield and chin strap, operate smoothly.
4.2 Fitting the Helmet
- Place the helmet on your head, ensuring it sits level and covers your forehead.
- The cheek pads should press firmly against your cheeks.
- Try to move the helmet from side to side and up and down. Your skin should move with the helmet, indicating a snug fit. If the helmet slides independently, it is too large.
4.3 Securing the Double D-Ring Fastener
- Thread the long end of the chin strap through both D-rings.
- Loop the long end back through the first D-ring only.
- Pull the strap tight against your throat. Ensure there is no slack.
- Secure the loose end of the strap with the snap button to prevent flapping.
4.4 Attaching/Removing the Detachable Mask
The i20 features an easily detachable mask. To attach, align the mask's tabs with the corresponding slots on the helmet and slide it into place until it clicks securely. To remove, use the convenient PUSH and SLIDE mechanism to disengage the tabs and pull the mask away from the helmet.

5. Operating Instructions
5.1 HJ-V10 Internal Sun Shield
The HJ-V10 internal sun shield can be deployed or retracted using the lever located on the side of the helmet. Push the lever down to deploy the shield for sun protection and push it up to retract it when not needed. The shield is anti-fog coated for clear vision.
5.2 Ventilation System
The helmet is equipped with 2 top vents and mouth vents. These can be opened or closed to adjust airflow and maintain comfort. Experiment with different settings to find your preferred ventilation level based on riding conditions.
5.3 SMART HJC Bluetooth System (Sold Separately)
The HJC i20 helmet is designed to be compatible with SMART HJC Bluetooth systems (20B & 10B). These communication systems, co-developed with SENA, offer a compact and aerodynamic design. Installation instructions for the SMART HJC system are provided with the Bluetooth unit itself.

6. Maintenance
6.1 Cleaning the Helmet Shell
Clean the exterior of the helmet with a soft cloth and mild soap and water. Avoid abrasive cleaners, solvents, or petroleum-based products, as these can damage the shell material and finish.
6.2 Cleaning the Internal Sun Shield
The HJ-V10 internal shield should be cleaned with a soft, damp cloth and mild soap. Do not use abrasive materials or harsh chemicals. Allow it to air dry completely before use.
6.3 Removing and Washing Interior Pads
The cheek and crown pads are removable and washable. Carefully detach them from the helmet. Hand wash them in cold water with mild soap. Rinse thoroughly and allow them to air dry completely before re-installing. Ensure they are fully dry to prevent mildew.

6.4 Storage
Store your helmet in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Avoid placing heavy objects on the helmet, as this can deform the shell or interior padding.
7. Troubleshooting
- Visor Fogging: Ensure the internal sun shield is clean. If fogging persists in cold or humid conditions, consider using an anti-fog treatment specifically designed for helmet visors.
- Discomfort/Pressure Points: A new helmet may feel tight initially. If discomfort persists, ensure the helmet size is correct. Interchangeable cheek pads are available across all sizes for a customizable fit.
- Chin Strap Issues: If the D-ring fastener is difficult to secure or loosen, check for any obstructions or damage to the strap or rings. Ensure the strap is threaded correctly.
- Mask Attachment Issues: If the detachable mask does not secure properly, ensure the PUSH and SLIDE mechanism is fully engaged and that no debris is obstructing the connection points.
