Setup
- Locate the OBD2 Port: The OBD2 port is typically located under the dashboard on the driver's side, often near the steering column. Refer to your vehicle's manual if you cannot locate it.
- Connect the Scanner: With the vehicle's ignition off, firmly plug the appropriate adapter (6-pin, 9-pin, or 16-pin) into the vehicle's OBD2 port, then connect the scanner to the adapter.
- Power On the Vehicle: Turn the vehicle's ignition to the "ON" position (do not start the engine unless instructed by a specific diagnostic procedure). The scanner will power on automatically.

Operating Instructions
Main Menu Navigation
Use the ENTER button to confirm selections and the EXIT button to return to the previous menu. The arrow buttons (UP, DOWN) navigate through menu options.
Reading Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs)
- From the main menu, select "Diagnostics" (for HD601) or "Read Codes" (for AD310).
- The scanner will automatically scan for codes.
- View "Pending Codes" and "Stored Codes" to see current and historical fault codes.
- Each code will have a description to help identify the issue.

The ANCEL HD601 screen shows options for 'Live Data Stream' and 'DTC Lookup', indicating its diagnostic capabilities.
Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs)
- After addressing the vehicle issue, navigate to the "Clear Codes" option in the Diagnostics menu.
- Confirm the action. This will turn off the Check Engine Light (MIL) and clear all stored diagnostic information.
- Note: Clearing codes without fixing the underlying problem will result in the codes reappearing.
Viewing Live Data Stream
- Select "Live Data" from the Diagnostics menu.
- The scanner will display real-time vehicle sensor data, such as engine RPM, vehicle speed, coolant temperature, and oxygen sensor readings.
- This data can be crucial for diagnosing intermittent problems or verifying repairs.

The ANCEL AD310 screen displays various live data parameters, including DTC count, O2 sensor readings, fuel system status, and engine RPM, providing real-time vehicle performance information.
DTC Lookup (AD310 specific)
- From the main menu, select "DTC Lookup".
- Enter the 5-character diagnostic trouble code using the arrow buttons to change digits and ENTER to confirm.
- The scanner will display a detailed description of the code.

This image illustrates how OBD-II codes are defined, showing the structure of a P-code (Powertrain, Network, Body, Chassis) and the meaning of its digits, along with an example of a P0045 code description.
Maintenance
- Cleaning: Wipe the device with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Storage: Store the scanner in a dry, cool place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- Software Updates: Regularly check the ANCEL official website for software updates to ensure compatibility with the latest vehicle models and diagnostic protocols.
Troubleshooting
Device Does Not Power On
- Ensure the scanner is correctly plugged into the vehicle's OBD2 port.
- Verify the vehicle's ignition is in the "ON" position (or engine running if required for specific functions).
- Check the vehicle's fuse for the OBD2 port.
Link Error / Communication Error
- Confirm the ignition is on and the scanner is securely connected.
- Turn off the ignition, wait for 10 seconds, and then turn it back on before attempting to connect again.
- Try connecting to a different compatible vehicle to rule out a vehicle-specific issue.
- Ensure the vehicle is OBD2 compliant (for AD310) or supports the heavy-duty protocols (for HD601).
Codes Cannot Be Cleared
- The underlying fault causing the DTC must be repaired before the code can be permanently cleared.
- Some codes may require multiple drive cycles to clear after a repair.
