2. Product Overview

2.1. Device Components

Familiarize yourself with the main components of your DURFICST WM700A moisture meter:

3. Setup

3.1. Battery Installation

  1. Open the battery compartment cover on the back of the device.
  2. Insert three (3) AAA alkaline batteries, ensuring correct polarity.
  3. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

3.2. Power On/Off

  • To power ON: Press the Power button briefly.
  • To power OFF: Press and hold the Power button for 2 seconds.

3.3. Automatic Shutdown

The device features an automatic shutdown function to conserve battery power. If no operation is performed for 10 minutes, the meter will automatically turn off.

  • To disable automatic shutdown: Press and hold the HOLD/BL button while powering on the device. The auto-off indicator will not be displayed.

3.4. Backlight

The LCD display has a backlight for improved visibility in low-light conditions.

  • To turn ON/OFF the backlight: Briefly press the HOLD/BL button.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1. Selecting Measurement Mode

The DURFICST WM700A supports measurement for four material types:

  • DRYWALL
  • MASONRY
  • SOFTWOOD
  • HARDWOOD

Press the SEL button repeatedly to cycle through the available material modes until the desired mode is displayed.

4.2. Zero Calibration

For the most accurate results, perform a zero calibration before each measurement session or when changing measurement environments.

  1. Hold the meter in the air, away from any objects.
  2. Press the ZERO button. The display should show "0.0%" or a very low value.
  3. If you need to identify wet spots on a surface, first calibrate the device on a relatively dry area of the same material. Then, move the device across the surface to detect areas with higher moisture content.

4.3. Taking a Measurement

  1. Ensure the correct material mode is selected (refer to Section 4.1).
  2. Place the back of the meter (where the sensor is located) flat against the surface of the material you wish to measure.
  3. The moisture content will be displayed on the LCD screen. The electromagnetic waves penetrate 20-40mm into the material for measurement.

4.4. Interpreting Readings and Alarm Function

The meter provides a numerical moisture percentage and a visual indicator (DRY, MID, WET) on the display. An audible alarm will sound if the moisture content exceeds predefined thresholds:

  • DRYWALL / MASONRY Modes: Alarm sounds if moisture exceeds 70%.
  • SOFTWOOD / HARDWOOD Modes: Alarm sounds if moisture exceeds 20%.

4.5. HOLD Function

To freeze the current reading on the display, press the HOLD button briefly. Press it again to release the hold and resume live readings.

4.6. Temperature Unit Change

To switch between Celsius (°C) and Fahrenheit (°F) for temperature display, press and hold the °C/°F button for 3 seconds.

5. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Wipe the device with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Storage: Store the meter in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Remove batteries if the device will not be used for an extended period.
  • Battery Replacement: Replace batteries when the low battery indicator appears on the display.
