Important Safety Instructions

  • Ensure the machine is placed on a stable, level surface away from heat sources.

Setup Guide

  1. Unpacking: Carefully remove all packaging materials and place the machine on a stable, level surface.
  2. Initial Cleaning: Before first use, wipe down the exterior with a damp cloth. Wash the water reservoir, drip tray, and milk pitcher with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly.
  3. Fill Water Reservoir: Open the lid of the 1.2L water reservoir and fill it with fresh, cold water. Ensure the reservoir is properly seated in its compartment.
  4. Add Coffee Beans: Open the bean hopper lid and pour whole coffee beans into the hopper. Do not overfill.
  5. Plug In: Connect the power cord to the machine and then to a grounded electrical outlet.
  6. First Use Cycle: Perform an initial rinse cycle without coffee to prime the system. Refer to the "Operating Instructions" for details on dispensing hot water.

Operating Instructions

Brewing Espresso/Americano/Lungo

  1. Power On: Press the Power button. The machine will heat up, indicated by flashing lights. It is ready when the lights are solid.
  2. Adjust Grind Size (Optional): The conical burr grinder has 5 levels. Adjust the grind size dial inside the bean hopper for desired taste and aroma extraction. Finer grind for stronger espresso, coarser for lighter.
  3. Place Cup: Position your cup under the dispensing spout. The spout height is adjustable to fit various cup sizes.
  4. Select Drink: Press the desired button: Espresso, Americano, or Lungo. The machine will automatically grind beans and brew.
    • Espresso: A concentrated coffee shot.
    • Americano: Espresso with added hot water.
    • Lungo: A longer espresso shot with more water.
  5. My Cup Function: The My Cup setting is initially set to ristretto. This can be customized via the SmartHQ app to your preferred espresso recipe (volume and strength).

Using the Steam Frother

  1. Prepare Milk: Fill the included stainless steel frothing pitcher with cold milk (dairy or non-dairy). Do not fill more than halfway.
  2. Position Pitcher: Rotate the steam wand to the right (90 degrees) and immerse the tip just below the surface of the milk.
  3. Activate Steam: Press the Steam button. The machine will begin to produce steam.
  4. Froth Milk: Move the pitcher up and down gently to create desired foam texture (airy for cappuccino, denser for latte macchiato).
  5. Stop Steaming: Press the Steam button again to stop. Immediately wipe the steam wand with a damp cloth to prevent milk residue from drying.

Dispensing Hot Water

  1. Place Cup: Position a cup under the hot water spout (separate from the coffee spout).
  2. Activate Hot Water: Press the Hot Water button.
  3. Stop Dispensing: Press the Hot Water button again to stop the flow.

Maintenance and Cleaning

Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your espresso machine.

Daily Cleaning

  • Drip Tray & Waste Bin: The magnetic drip tray and internal bean waste bin should be emptied and rinsed daily. Remove them from the machine for easy access.
  • Steam Wand: Immediately after each use, wipe the steam wand with a damp cloth to remove any milk residue. Periodically, use a small brush to clear the steam nozzle.
  • Water Reservoir: Rinse the water reservoir daily and refill with fresh water.

Weekly Cleaning

  • Brew Unit: The coffee brewer unit is removable for thorough cleaning. Follow the instructions in the SmartHQ app or the full user manual for detailed steps on removing and cleaning the brew unit.
  • Exterior: Wipe down the exterior of the machine with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners.
