2. Safety Information

4. Setup

4.1 Unpacking and Placement

1. Carefully remove all components from the packaging.
2. Place the turntable on a stable, level surface, away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and strong vibrations.
3. Attach the dust cover to the hinges on the rear of the turntable.

4.2 Platter and Belt Installation

1. Place the platter onto the center spindle.
2. Locate the drive belt, which is typically pre-installed on the underside of the platter.
3. Carefully stretch the drive belt around the motor pulley, located in the top-left corner of the platter area. Ensure the belt is not twisted.
4. Place the felt mat on top of the platter.

4.3 Tonearm and Cartridge Setup

The AT3600L MM cartridge is typically pre-installed on the headshell. If not, attach the headshell to the tonearm by rotating the locking ring clockwise.

4.3.1 Counterweight Adjustment

1. Gently remove the stylus protector from the cartridge.
2. While holding the tonearm, carefully rotate the counterweight onto the rear of the tonearm until it is balanced horizontally (the tonearm floats freely).
3. Once balanced, hold the counterweight steady and rotate the tracking force ring to "0".
4. Rotate the entire counterweight counter-clockwise to the recommended tracking force for the AT3600L cartridge, which is typically 3.5 grams.

4.3.2 Anti-Skating Adjustment

Set the anti-skating dial to the same value as the tracking force (e.g., 3.5). This helps prevent the stylus from skipping inwards across the record.

4.4 Audio Connections

The TN-280BT-A3 features a built-in Phono EQ amplifier, allowing connection to various audio systems.

4.4.1 Connecting to an Amplifier/Receiver with Phono Input

1. Connect the supplied RCA audio cable from the turntable's RCA output jacks to the PHONO input jacks on your amplifier/receiver.
2. Set the "PHONO EQ" switch on the rear of the turntable to "THRU".

4.4.2 Connecting to an Amplifier/Receiver with Line Input (AUX, CD, etc.)

1. Connect the supplied RCA audio cable from the turntable's RCA output jacks to any available LINE-level input (e.g., AUX, CD, TAPE) on your amplifier/receiver.
2. Set the "PHONO EQ" switch on the rear of the turntable to "ON".

4.5 Power Connection

1. Connect the AC adapter to the DC IN 12V jack on the rear of the turntable.
2. Plug the AC adapter into a wall outlet.
3. Turn the power switch on the rear panel to "ON". The standby indicator will illuminate.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Playing a Record

1. Place a record on the felt mat on the platter.
2. Select the appropriate speed (33 or 45 RPM) using the speed selector knob. Use the 45 RPM adapter for singles if needed.
3. Unlock the tonearm clamp.
4. Lift the tonearm using the tonearm lift lever.
5. Manually position the tonearm over the desired starting groove of the record.
6. Lower the tonearm gently using the tonearm lift lever. The stylus will descend onto the record and playback will begin.
7. Adjust the volume on your connected amplifier/receiver.

5.2 Stopping Playback

1. Lift the tonearm using the tonearm lift lever.
2. Return the tonearm to its rest position.
3. Secure the tonearm with the clamp.
4. Remove the record from the platter.

5.3 Bluetooth Wireless Connection

The TN-280BT-A3 can transmit audio wirelessly to Bluetooth-enabled speakers or headphones.

1. Ensure your Bluetooth speaker/headphones are in pairing mode. Refer to your device's manual for instructions.
2. Press and hold the Bluetooth pairing button on the turntable (usually located near the speed selector or on the front/side). The Bluetooth indicator light will flash.
3. Once connected, the Bluetooth indicator light will remain steadily lit. Audio from the turntable will now be transmitted to your Bluetooth device.
4. To disconnect, press the Bluetooth pairing button again, or turn off Bluetooth on your receiving device.

6. Maintenance

6.1 Cleaning the Stylus

• Always clean the stylus from back to front using a soft brush designed for stylus cleaning.
• Do not use excessive force or brush from side to side, as this can damage the stylus.
• Replace the stylus when sound quality degrades or after approximately 300-500 hours of playback.

6.2 Cleaning the Turntable Unit

• Wipe the unit with a soft, dry cloth.
• For stubborn dirt, use a slightly damp cloth and then wipe dry immediately.
• Avoid using abrasive cleaners, waxes, or solvents, as these can damage the finish.

6.3 Dust Cover Care

• Clean the dust cover with a soft, lint-free cloth.
• If necessary, use a mild, non-abrasive plastic cleaner.
• Avoid wiping the dust cover vigorously, as this can cause static electricity and attract more dust.
