1. Introduction

Thank you for choosing the Flutesan Solar Battery Controller. This device is designed to manage the power flow from your solar panel to your battery, ensuring efficient charging and protecting your battery from overcharge and over-discharge. It features an adjustable LCD display, dual USB ports, and PWM auto-parameter management. This manual provides detailed instructions for installation, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting to ensure optimal performance and longevity of your solar system.

2. Safety Information

Please read all safety instructions carefully before installation and operation. Failure to follow these instructions may result in damage to the controller, battery, or other components, and may void your warranty.

  • Ensure all connections are correct and secure before connecting to power. Incorrect wiring can cause damage.
  • Always connect the battery first, then the solar panel, and finally the load. Disconnect in the reverse order.
  • The controller is designed for 12V/24V lead-acid batteries (GEL, FLOODED, SLD). Do not use with other battery types unless specified.
  • Install the controller in a well-ventilated, dry, and cool environment, away from direct sunlight, high temperatures, and moisture.
  • Do not disassemble or attempt to repair the controller yourself. Refer to qualified personnel for service.
  • The controller has built-in overcurrent, open circuit, reverse polarity, and short-circuit protection. These are self-recovery types and do not harm the controller.

4. Setup and Installation

Follow these steps for proper installation of your solar charge controller. Ensure all power sources are disconnected before making any connections.

  1. Prepare the Installation Site: Choose a dry, well-ventilated location away from direct sunlight and moisture. Ensure there is sufficient space around the controller for air circulation.
  2. Connect the Battery: Connect the battery to the controller's battery terminals (marked with battery symbols). Ensure correct polarity (+ to + and - to -). The LCD display will light up if the connection is successful.
  3. Connect the Solar Panel: Connect the solar panel to the controller's solar panel terminals (marked with solar panel symbols). Ensure correct polarity.
  4. Connect the Load (Optional): Connect your DC load to the controller's load terminals (marked with light bulb symbols). Ensure correct polarity. Do not connect AC loads directly to the controller.
  5. Verify Connections: Double-check all connections for tightness and correct polarity before applying power.

5. Operating Instructions

The controller features an intuitive LCD display and three buttons for easy operation and parameter adjustment.

5.1. Button Functions

  • MENU Button: Short press to cycle through various display interfaces and parameters. Long press for 5 seconds to enter or exit parameter setting mode.
  • UP Button: Used to increase parameter values in setting mode.
  • DOWN/ON/OFF Button: Used to decrease parameter values in setting mode. Short press to turn the load ON/OFF when on the main display interface.

5.2. Browsing Display Interfaces

Short press the MENU key to cycle through the following interfaces:

  • Main Page (Battery Voltage, Solar Charge Status, Load Status)
  • Float Voltage (F01)
  • Discharge Recovery Voltage (F02)
  • Discharge Cut-off Voltage (F03)
  • Load Working Mode (F04)
  • Battery Type (F05)

5.3. Parameter Setting

To adjust parameters:

  1. Navigate to the desired parameter interface (e.g., F01, F02, F03, F04, F05) by short pressing the MENU button.
  2. Long press the MENU key for 5 seconds until the number on the display starts flashing. This indicates you are in setting mode.
  3. Use the UP and DOWN keys to adjust the parameter value.
  4. Once the desired value is set, long press the MENU key for 5 seconds again to save the setting and exit the setting mode. The number will stop flashing.
  5. To restore default values, long press the UP key for 5 seconds when in interfaces 2-5.

Note: The controller automatically identifies 12V/24V systems. Ensure your battery type setting (F05) matches your battery for optimal charging.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your solar charge controller.

  • Cleanliness: Keep the controller clean and free from dust and debris. Use a dry cloth to wipe the surface.
  • Connections: Periodically check all wiring connections to ensure they are tight and free from corrosion. Loose connections can cause overheating and damage.
  • Ventilation: Ensure the installation area remains well-ventilated to prevent overheating of the controller.
  • Environmental Conditions: Protect the controller from extreme temperatures, direct water exposure, and high humidity.
  • Battery Health: Monitor your battery's health and ensure it is properly maintained according to its manufacturer's guidelines.

7. Troubleshooting

This section addresses common issues you might encounter with your solar charge controller.
