This manual provides comprehensive instructions for the safe operation, installation, and maintenance of your Intex Krystal Clear Sand Filter Pump SX925. This pump is designed to keep your above-ground pool water clean and clear by filtering out impurities. It features a multi-function control valve and an integrated timer for convenient use.

The Intex Krystal Clear Sand Filter Pump SX925 is ideal for round or rectangular above ground pools up to 16,805 litres. The pump has a flow rate of 925 gallons per hour, and will keep the pool's water circulating to help it retain its clarity and cleanliness. The Sand Filter has a four function 6-way control valve, so you can easily filter, backwash, recirculate, and drain. It also includes a handy 24 hour automatic timer to help ensure the pump operates when it is needed, without the need to continually turn it on and off.

Setup and Installation

1. Choosing a Location

Select a firm, level surface for the pump, preferably close to the pool. Ensure adequate drainage and protection from direct sunlight and harsh weather conditions.

2. Assembling the Base and Tank

Attach the filter tank to the base platform according to the diagrams provided in the separate assembly guide. Ensure all connections are secure.

3. Filling the Filter Tank with Sand

Remove the control valve and carefully fill the tank with the recommended amount of filter sand (approximately 6.5 kg of silica sand). Ensure the standpipe is centered during filling to prevent sand from entering it. Do not overfill.

4. Attaching the Control Valve and Pump

Securely attach the 6-way control valve to the top of the filter tank. Connect the pump motor assembly to the filter tank using the provided hoses and clamps. Ensure all connections are tight to prevent leaks.

5. Connecting to the Pool

Connect the pump's inlet and outlet ports to your pool's corresponding connections using the appropriate hoses and adapters. Ensure the pool's water level is above the skimmer and return lines before starting the pump.

Operating Instructions

Control Valve Functions

The 6-way control valve allows for various operations. Always turn off the pump before changing the valve position.

• FILTER: Normal filtering operation. Water flows through the sand bed, trapping debris, and returns to the pool.
• BACKWASH: Reverses water flow through the sand bed to flush out trapped debris to waste. Used for cleaning the sand.
• RINSE: Used after backwashing to settle the sand bed and flush out any remaining dirty water to waste before returning to FILTER mode.
• WASTE (DRAIN): Bypasses the filter and sends water directly to waste. Useful for lowering pool water level or vacuuming heavy debris directly to waste.
• RECIRCULATE: Bypasses the filter and circulates water directly back to the pool. Used for mixing chemicals without filtering.
• CLOSED: Shuts off all flow to the filter and pump. Use when performing maintenance or when the pump is not in use.

Initial Start-up and Backwashing

1. Ensure the pool is filled to the proper level and all connections are secure.
2. Set the control valve to the "BACKWASH" position.
3. Turn on the pump. Backwash for approximately 2-3 minutes, or until the water in the sight glass (if present) runs clear.
4. Turn off the pump.
5. Set the control valve to the "RINSE" position.
6. Turn on the pump. Rinse for approximately 30-60 seconds.
7. Turn off the pump.
8. Set the control valve to the "FILTER" position. The pump is now ready for normal operation.

Using the 24-Hour Automatic Timer

The pump includes a built-in 24-hour automatic timer to schedule operation cycles. Refer to the specific instructions in the separate timer manual for detailed programming steps.

Maintenance

Regular Backwashing

Backwash the filter when the pressure gauge reading increases by 3-5 PSI (0.2-0.3 BAR) above its clean operating pressure, or when the pool water appears cloudy. Frequent backwashing helps maintain optimal filtration performance.

Sand Replacement

The filter sand typically needs to be replaced every 5 years, depending on usage and water quality. Refer to the detailed instructions in the separate assembly guide for sand replacement procedures.

Winterization

Before winter, drain all water from the pump, filter tank, and hoses. Store the unit in a dry, frost-free area. Disconnect and store hoses separately.
