3. Setup & Installation
The installation process may vary depending on your gate and ground conditions. The following steps provide a general reference. Ensure your gate can open and close smoothly by hand without the gate opener before starting installation.
3.1 Mechanical Installation
- Assemble the Base Plate: Connect the base plate components using the provided bolts and nuts. Ensure all connections are secure.
- Install Idler Wheels: Attach the idler wheels to the base plate using the provided bolts, washers, and nuts.
- Install the Motor on the Base Plate: Remove the cover of the motor unit. Place the motor onto the assembled base plate. Adjust the motor position to align the drive sprocket and the two idler wheels vertically. Reinforce all bolts.
- Determine the Position of Gate Opener: Ensure the teeth of the chain wheels are within the range of the hole in the 'L' bracket when viewed vertically. Mark the bolt-hole points.
- Drill Holes and Secure: Drill holes at the marked points. Select appropriate bolts (expansion bolts included, hex bolts not included) based on your ground surface. Secure the base plate to the ground.
- Install 'L' Brackets: Install the 'L' brackets on both sides of the gate. Ensure the bottom of the idler wheel is at the same height as the hole of the 'L' bracket.
- Fit the Chain: Disengage the clutch on the motor. Install the chain bolts on the 'L' brackets. Use the master link to connect the chain with the chain bolt. Ensure the chain fully engages the drive sprocket and the two idler wheels. Cut the chain to the appropriate length.
- Install the Magnets: Install the magnets on the brackets. The S magnet bracket should be installed on the left side (from inside the property view), and the N magnet bracket on the right side. Ensure the magnet center aligns with the marked line on the limit switch, and the magnet is 25-30 mm (1-1.2 inches) away from the limit switch. Reinforce with self-tapping screws.
- Engage the Clutch: Once all mechanical components are installed, engage the clutch on the motor.
