JMT Two-Way Lora Signal Booster Instruction Manual

Model: N45891-D3

1. Product Overview

The JMT Two-Way Lora Signal Booster is a versatile amplifier module designed to enhance signal transmission and reception for various wireless applications. It operates in a two-way amplified Time Division Duplex (TDD) mode, ensuring equal amplification for both transmit power and receiving sensitivity. This module features high isolation between receiving and sending links, allowing the receiving link to tolerate strong external interference without self-excitation.

It is compatible with multiple modulation methods, including LORA, FSK, ASK, OOK, MSK, and GFSK. The module supports various frequency bands, with a default working range of 420MHz-480MHz for the 433MHz version. It can be adjusted to operate within any 60MHz bandwidth between 300MHz and 600MHz (e.g., 300MHz-360MHz, 520MHz-580MHz) by adjusting parameters.

Note: This module is not suitable for extending the transmission range of high-power handheld walkie-talkies.

2. Key Features

  • Applicable Frequency Bands: Designed for 433MHz (420MHz-480MHz), 510MHz (470MHz-520MHz), and 868MHz (Europe 863MHz-870MHz) applications. Adjustable for 60MHz bandwidths within 300MHz-600MHz.
  • Two-Way Amplification: Operates in TDD mode, amplifying both transmit and receive signals equally.
  • High Isolation: Ensures stable operation by preventing self-excitation from external interference.
  • Modulation Compatibility: Supports LORA, FSK, ASK, OOK, MSK, and GFSK.
  • Intelligent Switching: Built-in circuit automatically discriminates between receiving and sending, eliminating the need for external control signals.
  • Adjustable Transmission Gain: Manual adjustment allows compatibility with various wireless devices.
  • Status Indicators: Green light for receiving, blue light for transmitting. Alternating flash indicates TDD working mode.

3. Safety Information

  • Ensure the power supply voltage is within the specified range of 3.6V to 6.0V. Exceeding this range may damage the module.
  • Avoid exposing the module to moisture, extreme temperatures, or direct sunlight.
  • Handle the module with care to prevent electrostatic discharge (ESD) damage.
  • Do not attempt to modify or disassemble the module, as this will void the warranty and may cause damage.
  • Ensure proper antenna connection before powering on the module to prevent damage to the output stage.

4. Setup and Connection

Follow these steps to properly set up your JMT Two-Way Lora Signal Booster:

  1. Power Supply: Connect a stable DC power supply within the 3.6V to 6.0V range to the VCC and GND pins. Ensure correct polarity.
  2. Signal Input: Connect the signal output from your front-end equipment (e.g., Lora router, RC drone transmitter) to the 'IN' SMA connector on the booster module.
  3. Signal Output: Connect your antenna to the 'OUT' SMA connector on the booster module. Ensure the antenna is suitable for the operating frequency band.
  4. Front-End Equipment Power: For reliable switching, the transmit power of your front-end equipment should have at least a 3dB margin, meaning its minimum transmit power should not be lower than 1dBm.

5. Operating Instructions

The signal booster operates automatically based on detected signal activity:

  • Receiving State: By default, the module is in the receiving state, amplifying incoming signals. The green light will be on, and the blue light will be off.
  • Transmitting State: When the front-end equipment transmits an external signal, the module instantly switches to the transmitting and amplifying state. The blue light will be on, and the green light will be off.
  • TDD Working Mode: During active two-way communication, the blue and green lights will flash alternately, indicating the module is switching between transmitting and receiving.
  • Adjusting Transmission Gain: The transmission gain can be manually adjusted to optimize performance with different wireless devices. Refer to the specifications for the adjustable range.

6. Maintenance

The JMT Two-Way Lora Signal Booster is designed for reliable operation with minimal maintenance. To ensure longevity and optimal performance:

  • Keep the module clean and free from dust and debris. Use a soft, dry cloth for cleaning.
  • Store the module in a dry environment, away from direct moisture or corrosive substances.
  • Periodically check all cable connections for secure fit.
  • Avoid operating the module in environments with excessive vibration or mechanical shock.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your signal booster, refer to the following troubleshooting guide:

  • No Power/No Indicator Lights:
    • Check the power supply voltage. Ensure it is between 3.6V and 6.0V.
    • Verify power cable connections for correct polarity and secure fit.
  • Unstable Receiving/Transmitting Switch:
    • Ensure the transmit power of your front-end equipment is at least 1dBm, with a 3dB margin for reliable switching.
    • Check for strong external interference that might affect the switching mechanism.
  • Poor Signal Amplification:
    • Verify that the module's operating frequency band matches your application.
    • Check all SMA connections for tightness and proper contact.
    • Ensure the antenna is correctly connected and suitable for the frequency.
    • Adjust the transmission gain if necessary.
  • Module Overheating:
    • Ensure adequate ventilation around the module.
    • Verify that the power supply voltage is not too high, as higher voltage increases current draw and heat.
