1. Introduction

3. Setup

3.1. Battery Installation

The hetaida HTD8813C thermometer requires 2 AAA batteries (included). Follow these steps to install them:

  1. Locate the battery cover at the bottom of the thermometer handle.
  2. Slide the battery cover downwards to open the compartment.
  3. Insert the 2 AAA batteries, ensuring the positive (+) and negative (-) poles align correctly with the indicators inside the compartment.
  4. Slide the battery cover back into place until it clicks securely.

3.2. Device Components

Familiarize yourself with the main components of your thermometer:

4. Operating Instructions

4.1. Taking a Temperature Reading (Body Mode)

  1. Ensure the thermometer is in Body Mode. If not, press the MODE button to switch. The display will show "Body".
  2. Hold the thermometer approximately 2-3.15 inches (5-8 cm) from the center of the forehead.
  3. Press the ON/Scan button. The temperature reading will appear on the LCD screen within 1 second.
  4. Observe the backlight color:
    • Green: Normal temperature (95.9-99.1°F / 35.5-37.3°C)
    • Yellow: Slight fever (99.3-100.4°F / 37.4-38.0°C)
    • Red: High fever (100.6-109.4°F / 38.1-43.0°C)

4.2. Taking a Temperature Reading (Surface Mode)

To measure the temperature of objects, rooms, or liquids:

  1. Press the MODE button to switch to Surface Mode. The display will show "Surface" or an object icon.
  2. Point the thermometer at the desired object or surface.
  3. Press the ON/Scan button. The surface temperature will be displayed.

4.3. Switching Temperature Units (°C/°F)

To change the temperature unit:

  1. With the thermometer powered on, press and hold the SET button for approximately 3 seconds.
  2. The display will show "F1" and the °C / °F icon will start to flash.
  3. Press the MEMO or MODE button to toggle between Celsius (°C) and Fahrenheit (°F).
  4. Press the SET button again to confirm your selection and exit the setting.

4.4. Silent Mode

To enable or disable silent mode (mute beeps):

  • While the thermometer is powered on, press the SET button briefly.
  • This will toggle the sound on or off. A speaker icon on the display indicates sound is enabled.

4.5. Memory Recall

To view previous temperature readings:

  • With the thermometer powered on, press the MEMO button.
  • Each press will cycle through the last 50 stored measurements.
  • When the memory is full, the oldest reading will be overwritten by the newest.

5. Maintenance

5.1. Cleaning

To ensure accurate readings and hygiene, clean the thermometer regularly:

  • Wipe the thermometer body with a soft, damp cloth.
  • For the infrared sensor, gently clean with a cotton swab lightly moistened with alcohol. Allow it to dry completely before use.
  • Do not immerse the thermometer in water or any other liquid.
  • Do not use abrasive cleaning agents or thinners.

5.2. Storage

Store the thermometer in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight, dust, and extreme temperatures. Keep it out of reach of children.

5.3. Battery Replacement

When the low battery indicator appears on the display, replace both AAA batteries as described in Section 3.1. Always replace both batteries at the same time with new ones of the same type.

6. Troubleshooting
