Setup

  1. Unpack the grinder and all its components.
  2. Wash the removable stainless steel grinding bowl and clear lid in warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry. The grinding bowl is dishwasher safe.
  3. Wipe the exterior of the grinder base with a damp cloth. Do not immerse the base in water.
  4. Ensure the grinding bowl is securely placed inside the grinder base.
  5. Place the clear lid onto the grinding bowl and twist to lock it into place. The grinder will not operate unless the lid is properly secured.
  6. Unwind the power cord from the cord storage area at the bottom of the unit to the desired length and plug the grinder into a standard 120V AC electrical outlet.

Operating Instructions

Grinding Coffee Beans

  1. Remove the clear lid and the grinding bowl.
  2. Add whole coffee beans to the stainless steel grinding bowl. Do not fill past the "MAX" line indicated inside the bowl.
  3. Place the grinding bowl back into the grinder base and secure the clear lid by twisting it clockwise until it locks.
  4. Adjust the grind setting dial to your desired fineness: COARSE, MEDIUM, or FINE. There are 5 settings in total.

  6. Move the cup selection lever to indicate the number of cups of coffee you intend to brew (from 4 to 14 cups). This setting determines the grinding duration.

  8. Press the ON/OFF button. The grinder will operate automatically for the pre-selected duration and then shut off.
  9. Once grinding is complete, unplug the unit. Remove the lid and then the grinding bowl. Carefully pour the ground coffee into your coffee maker.

Grinding Spices and Herbs

The Hamilton Beach Electric Coffee Grinder can also be used to grind dry spices and herbs. Follow the same steps as grinding coffee beans, ensuring the grinding bowl is clean and dry before adding spices. Adjust the grind setting as needed for your desired consistency.

Cleaning and Maintenance

  1. Always unplug the grinder before cleaning.
  2. Remove the clear lid and the stainless steel grinding bowl.
  3. The grinding bowl and lid are dishwasher safe (top rack recommended) or can be washed by hand with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry completely before reassembling.
