2. Setup

Follow these steps to set up your Fender Frontman 20G amplifier:

  1. Unpacking: Carefully remove the amplifier from its packaging. Retain the packaging for future transport or storage.
  2. Placement: Place the amplifier on a stable, flat surface. Ensure adequate ventilation around the unit.
  3. Power Connection: Connect the supplied power cord to the amplifier's power input and then to a suitable electrical outlet. Ensure the amplifier's power switch is in the OFF position before plugging it in.
  4. Instrument Connection: Plug your guitar cable into the INPUT jack on the front panel of the amplifier.

3. Operating Instructions

The Frontman 20G features an intuitive control layout for easy operation.

Controls:

  • INPUT: 1/4-inch jack for connecting your instrument.
  • NORMAL VOLUME: Controls the overall volume of the clean channel.
  • DRIVE SELECT: Button to switch between the clean and drive channels.
  • GAIN: Adjusts the amount of distortion/overdrive in the drive channel.
  • DRIVE VOLUME: Controls the overall volume of the drive channel.
  • TREBLE: Adjusts the high-frequency tone.
  • MIDDLE: Adjusts the mid-range frequency tone.
  • BASS: Adjusts the low-frequency tone.
  • AUX IN: 1/8-inch (3.5mm) stereo input for connecting external audio devices (e.g., MP3 player, phone).
  • HEADPHONES: 1/8-inch (3.5mm) stereo output for silent practice. Connecting headphones mutes the main speaker.
  • POWER: On/Off switch for the amplifier.

Basic Operation:

  1. Turn on the amplifier using the POWER switch. The power indicator light will illuminate.
  2. Start with all volume and gain controls set to minimum (fully counter-clockwise).
  3. For a clean tone, ensure the DRIVE SELECT button is disengaged (out position). Slowly increase the NORMAL VOLUME to your desired level. Adjust TREBLE, MIDDLE, and BASS to shape your tone.
  4. To engage the drive channel, press the DRIVE SELECT button (in position). Slowly increase the GAIN control to add distortion, then adjust the DRIVE VOLUME to balance with your clean channel volume.
  5. To play along with music, connect your audio device to the AUX IN jack. Control the volume of the external device from the device itself.
  6. For silent practice, plug headphones into the HEADPHONES jack. The main speaker will automatically mute.
