- Pedal Attachment:
Identify the left (L) and right (R) pedals. The right pedal tightens clockwise, and the left pedal tightens counter-clockwise. Apply a small amount of grease to the threads and screw them firmly into the crank arms. Use a wrench to ensure they are secure.
- Seat Post and Saddle:
Insert the seat post into the frame's seat tube. Adjust the saddle height to a comfortable riding position where your feet can touch the ground while seated. Secure the quick-release lever or bolt firmly.
- Battery Installation:
Locate the battery compartment. Insert the fully charged battery into its housing and ensure it clicks securely into place. Lock the battery with the key if applicable to prevent theft and ensure it remains fixed during riding.
- Tire Inflation:
Inflate tires to the recommended pressure indicated on the tire sidewall. Proper tire pressure is crucial for safety and performance.
- Brake Check:
Test both front and rear brakes to ensure they engage properly and stop the wheels effectively. Adjust cable tension if necessary.
Operating Instructions
1. Battery Charging and Management
- Charging: Connect the charger to the battery charging port, then plug it into a standard wall outlet. The indicator light on the charger will show charging status (e.g., red for charging, green for fully charged). A full charge typically takes several hours.
- Removal: To remove the battery, unlock it with the key (if applicable) and slide it out of its compartment.
- Installation: Slide the battery back into its compartment until it clicks into place. Lock it with the key.
2. Power On/Off and Pedal Assist System
- Power On: Press and hold the power button on the handlebar display to turn on the e-bike system. The display will illuminate.
- Pedal Assist Levels: Use the '+' and '-' buttons on the display control panel to select your desired level of pedal assistance. Higher levels provide more motor assistance. The motor assists up to 25 km/h.
- Power Off: Press and hold the power button again to turn off the system.

3. Gear Shifting (Shimano 7-Speed)
- Your Nilox J5 SE is equipped with a Shimano 7-speed derailleur.
- Use the shifter on the handlebar to change gears. Shift to a lower gear for easier pedaling on inclines and a higher gear for faster speeds on flat terrain.
- Always pedal lightly when shifting gears to ensure smooth transitions and prevent damage to the drivetrain.

This image provides a close-up of the rear wheel, showing the Shimano 7-speed derailleur and the motor hub.
4. Braking System
- The e-bike features disc brakes and linear pull brakes.
- The right lever typically controls the rear brake, and the left lever controls the front brake.
- Apply both brakes simultaneously for effective and controlled stopping. Avoid sudden, hard braking with the front brake only, especially at high speeds, to prevent loss of control.
Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and safe operation of your Nilox J5 SE.
- Battery Care:
- Charge the battery regularly, even if not in use, to maintain its health.
- Store the battery in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- Avoid fully discharging the battery frequently.
- Cleaning:
- Clean the bicycle regularly with a damp cloth and mild soap. Avoid high-pressure washing, especially near electrical components.
- Keep the chain clean and lubricated to ensure smooth gear changes and prevent wear.
- Tires:
- Check tire pressure before each ride and inflate to the recommended PSI.
- Inspect tires for wear, cuts, or embedded objects.
- Brakes:
- Regularly check brake pads for wear and replace them when necessary.
- Ensure brake levers have proper tension and engage smoothly.
- Fasteners: Periodically check all bolts and nuts for tightness, especially on the handlebars, seat post, and wheels.
