Setup and Initial Assembly

Your Nilox J1 PRO eBike is delivered approximately 90% assembled. The following steps detail the completion of the assembly process.

1. Unfolding the Bicycle

Carefully remove the e-bike from its packaging. Locate the main folding hinge on the frame. Release the safety latch and unfold the frame until it locks into place. Secure the latch firmly.

2. Handlebar and Seatpost Adjustment

Adjust the handlebar stem and seatpost to your preferred riding height. Ensure all quick-release levers are securely tightened after adjustment. The handlebar stem also features a folding mechanism; ensure it is locked in the upright position.

3. Pedal Installation

Identify the left (L) and right (R) pedals. The left pedal typically has a reverse thread. Apply a small amount of grease to the threads and carefully screw each pedal into its respective crank arm. Tighten them firmly with a wrench from the assembly kit.

4. Battery Installation and Initial Charge

The battery is usually located on the rear rack. Ensure it is securely seated and locked into position. Before first use, fully charge the battery using the provided charger. Connect the charger to the battery port and then to a standard electrical outlet. The charging indicator on the charger will show the charging status.

5. Pre-Ride Checks

Before your first ride, perform the following checks:

  • Tires: Ensure tires are inflated to the recommended pressure (check sidewall).
  • Brakes: Test both front and rear brakes for proper function and responsiveness.
  • Lights: Verify that the front and rear LED lights are working.
  • Quick Releases: Confirm all quick-release levers (seatpost, handlebar) are securely fastened.
  • Gears: If applicable, check that the 6-speed gear system shifts smoothly.

Operating Instructions

The Nilox J1 PRO is designed for intuitive operation. Familiarize yourself with the controls before riding.

1. Powering On/Off

To power on the e-bike's electrical system, press and hold the ON/OFF button on the handlebar control unit. Repeat to power off.

2. Pedal Assist System (PAS)

The e-bike features a pedal-assist system. Once powered on, begin pedaling, and the motor will provide assistance. Use the MODE button on the handlebar control unit to select different levels of assistance (Low, Medium, High). Higher assist levels provide more power and speed but consume battery faster.

3. Lights

Press the LIGHT button on the control unit to turn the front and rear LED lights on or off for improved visibility.

4. Gear Shifting

The Nilox J1 PRO is equipped with a 6-speed gear change system. Use the gear shifter on the handlebar to select appropriate gears for different terrains and speeds. Shift smoothly to avoid strain on the drivetrain.

5. Braking

The e-bike uses V-brakes. Apply both front and rear brakes gently and evenly to slow down or stop. Avoid sudden, hard braking, especially with the front brake, to prevent loss of control.

6. Folding for Storage/Transport

To fold the e-bike, ensure it is powered off. Release the safety latch on the main frame hinge and fold the frame. Fold the handlebar stem down and collapse the pedals if they are foldable. This compacts the bike for easy storage or transport.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and safe operation of your Nilox J1 PRO eBike.

  • Battery Care:
    • Charge the battery regularly, even if not in use, to maintain its health.
    • Avoid fully discharging the battery.
    • Store the battery in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Tire Pressure: Check tire pressure weekly and inflate to the recommended PSI (found on the tire sidewall).
  • Brakes: Inspect brake pads for wear and replace them when necessary. Ensure brake cables are free from fraying and properly adjusted.
  • Chain: Keep the chain clean and lubricated to ensure smooth gear changes and prevent wear.
  • Fasteners: Periodically check all bolts, nuts, and quick-release levers for tightness.
  • Cleaning: Clean the e-bike with a damp cloth. Avoid using high-pressure washers directly on electrical components.
