Uvicator™ Sensor

The 3M Uvicator™ Sensor provides a visual indication of UV exposure, signaling when it's time to replace the hard hat. Prolonged UV exposure can degrade the helmet material, reducing its protective capabilities. The sensor changes color from red to white as it is exposed to UV light. When the sensor is fully white, the hard hat should be replaced.

Setup and Assembly

Suspension Installation Steps:

1. Identify the front of the hard hat shell (often indicated by the 3M logo or a specific marking).
2. Orient the suspension system: The brow pad (forehead area) of the suspension should align with the front of the hard hat. The ratchet mechanism is typically at the back.
3. Locate the four or six suspension slots inside the hard hat shell.
4. Align the tabs on the suspension with the corresponding slots in the hard hat.
5. Insert each tab into its slot and push firmly until it clicks securely into place. Ensure all tabs are fully engaged. You may need to apply gentle pressure and wiggle the suspension to seat it correctly.
6. Verify that the suspension is evenly seated and secure by gently pulling on it. It should not easily detach.

Operating and Adjustment

Proper adjustment of your hard hat is essential for both comfort and effective protection.

Wearing the Hard Hat:

Ratchet Suspension Adjustment:

• To tighten, turn the knob at the back of the suspension clockwise until the helmet fits snugly but comfortably.
• To loosen, turn the knob counter-clockwise.
• The SecureFit Pressure Diffusion Technology allows the suspension to flex and self-adjust, accommodating head sizes from 6-1/4 to 8 (50-64 cm).

Height Adjustment:

• Issue: Hard hat feels uncomfortable or too loose/tight.

  Solution: Adjust the ratchet knob at the back of the suspension for a snug but comfortable fit. Experiment with the two levels of height adjustment to find the optimal position on your head. Ensure the brow pad is properly positioned.

• Issue: Uvicator™ Sensor is white, but hard hat appears fine.

  Solution: The Uvicator™ Sensor is designed to indicate UV degradation, which may not always be visible to the naked eye. A fully white sensor means the hard hat has absorbed its maximum recommended UV exposure and should be replaced immediately, regardless of its apparent condition.

• Issue: Missing components upon arrival.
