4. Setup and Installation

Proper installation is crucial for safe and efficient winch operation. If you are unsure about any step, consult a qualified professional.

4.1 Mounting the Winch

  1. Select a suitable mounting location on your vehicle or trailer that can support the winch's weight and pulling forces. A dedicated winch mounting plate or bumper is recommended.
  2. Position the winch and roller fairlead, ensuring the rope can spool evenly onto the drum.
  3. Secure the winch using the provided high-grade bolts, washers, and nuts. Tighten all fasteners to the manufacturer's specifications.

4.2 Electrical Connections

5.1 Freespool Operation

The freespool clutch allows the rope to be manually pulled out from the drum without using motor power.

  1. To disengage the clutch for freespooling, rotate the clutch knob to the "Freespool" position.
  2. Pull the rope out to the desired length, ensuring at least five wraps remain on the drum.
  3. To engage the clutch, rotate the knob to the "Engaged" position. Ensure it is fully engaged before winching.

5.2 Winching Procedure

  1. Engage the clutch.
  2. Connect the hook securely to a suitable anchor point.
  3. Place a dampener over the rope, approximately halfway between the winch and the anchor.
  4. Stand clear of the rope and the winching path.
  5. Using the wired remote control, press the "IN" button to begin winching.
  6. Monitor the winching operation closely. If the motor strains, pause to allow it to cool.
  7. Once the pull is complete, release the "IN" button.
  8. To retrieve the rope, press the "OUT" button. Ensure the rope spools evenly and tightly on the drum.
