3. Setup Instructions

Follow these steps to set up your meross WiFi Mesh System:

  1. Power On the First Mesh Router: Connect one of the meross mesh routers to a power outlet using the provided power adapter. Wait for the unit to power on.
  2. Connect to Your Modem: Connect the LAN port of your existing modem or internet router to any Ethernet port (WAN/LAN auto-sensing) on the first meross mesh router using the provided Ethernet cable. Wait approximately 2 minutes for the router to initialize.
  3. Access Router Configuration: Open a web browser on a device connected to the meross network (either via Wi-Fi or Ethernet) and navigate to 192.168.58.1 to configure the first router. Follow the on-screen instructions to set up your Wi-Fi network name (SSID) and password.
  4. Power On the Second Mesh Router: Place the second meross mesh router in a suitable location within the coverage area of the first router. Connect it to a power outlet.
  5. Automatic Pairing: The second router will automatically pair with the first router. This process typically takes about 2 minutes. The LED indicator on the second router will turn solid blue once pairing is complete and a stable connection is established.

4. Operating Your Mesh System

4.1 Whole Home Coverage

The meross MMW120KITUK system provides extensive Wi-Fi coverage up to 300 m². The mesh technology ensures a stable and wide signal throughout your property, eliminating dead zones.

4.2 Dual-Band Wi-Fi

The system operates on dual bands: 2.4GHz and 5GHz. The 2.4GHz band offers speeds up to 300Mbps, suitable for general browsing and smart home devices. The 5GHz band provides faster speeds up to 867Mbps, ideal for HD video streaming, online gaming, and large file downloads.

4.3 Seamless Roaming and Smart Connect

With Roaming/Band Steering technology, your devices automatically connect to the fastest and strongest Wi-Fi signal as you move between rooms. Smart Connect ensures a uniform Wi-Fi name (single SSID) across both bands, simplifying network management.

4.4 Gigabit LAN Ports

Each mesh unit is equipped with Gigabit Ethernet ports, allowing for high-speed wired connections to devices such as PCs, gaming consoles, or smart TVs.

4.5 MU-MIMO and Beamforming

The system supports MU-MIMO (Multi-User, Multiple-Input, Multiple-Output) for efficient communication with multiple devices simultaneously. Beamforming (on 5GHz) focuses the Wi-Fi signal directly towards connected devices, improving signal strength and range.

5. Maintenance

To ensure optimal performance and longevity of your meross WiFi Mesh System, consider the following maintenance tips:

  • Placement: Position the mesh units in open areas, away from obstructions like large metal objects, thick walls, or other electronic devices that may cause interference.
  • Firmware Updates: Regularly check for and install firmware updates through the router's web interface (192.168.58.1). Updates often include performance improvements and security enhancements.
  • Cleaning: Keep the units clean and free from dust. Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the exterior. Do not use liquid cleaners.
  • Restart: If you experience network issues, try restarting both mesh units by unplugging them from power for 10 seconds and then plugging them back in.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your meross WiFi Mesh System, refer to the following troubleshooting steps:

  • No Internet Connection:
    • Ensure your modem is working correctly and has an active internet connection.
    • Verify that the Ethernet cable is securely connected between your modem and the first mesh router's WAN/LAN port.
    • Check the LED indicator on the main mesh router. If it's not solid blue, refer to the setup instructions.
  • Weak Wi-Fi Signal / Dead Zones:
    • Relocate the second mesh unit closer to the area with a weak signal, ensuring it's still within good range of the first unit.
    • Avoid placing units near large metal objects, microwave ovens, or cordless phones that can cause interference.
    • Ensure both mesh units are powered on and their LEDs are solid blue.
  • Cannot Access Router Configuration Page (192.168.58.1):
    • Ensure your device is connected to the meross Wi-Fi network or directly to a mesh unit via Ethernet.
    • Try clearing your browser's cache or using a different browser.
    • Restart the mesh router and your device.
  • Slow Speeds:
    • Confirm your internet service provider (ISP) speed.
    • Ensure your devices are connecting to the 5GHz band when possible for higher speeds.
    • Reduce the number of active devices or bandwidth-intensive activities on your network.
