Setup Guide
1. Package Contents
Please ensure all components are present:
- Yottamaster 2-Bay Enclosure
- USB 3.0 Type-B Cable
- Power Adapter
- Screws for drive installation
- User Manual (this document)
2. Drive Installation
The enclosure is designed for easy installation of both 2.5-inch and 3.5-inch SATA HDDs/SSDs using removable aluminum trays.
- Gently pull out the drive trays from the front of the enclosure.
- Place your 2.5" or 3.5" SATA HDD/SSD onto the tray, aligning the screw holes.
- Secure the drive to the tray using the provided screws. This protects the drives from shock and interface damage.
- Slide the loaded tray back into the enclosure until it clicks into place. Ensure both drives are securely seated.

3. RAID Mode Configuration
This enclosure supports multiple RAID modes. Please refer to the RAID DIP switch on the rear panel (Figure 3) and the table below for configuration. Important: Changing RAID modes will erase all data on the drives. Back up your data before proceeding.

Figure 3: Rear Panel with RAID DIP Switch
| RAID Mode | DIP Switch Setting (1-4) | Description |
|---|---|---|
| PM (Port Multiplier) | 0000 | Each drive appears as an independent disk. |
| JBOD (Just a Bunch Of Disks) | 0001 | Drives are concatenated to form a single large volume. No data redundancy. |
| RAID 0 (Striping) | 0010 | Data is striped across both drives for maximum performance. No data redundancy. |
| RAID 1 (Mirroring) | 0011 | Data is mirrored across both drives for data redundancy. Capacity is limited to the smallest drive. |
| CLONE | 0100 | Creates an exact copy of the first drive onto the second drive. |
After setting the DIP switches, press the 'SET' button on the rear panel to confirm the RAID mode. The enclosure will then be ready for connection.
4. Connecting to Computer
- Connect the USB 3.0 Type-B cable from the enclosure to an available USB 3.0 port on your computer.
- Connect the power adapter to the DC input on the enclosure and then to a power outlet.
- Press the power button on the rear panel to turn on the enclosure.
- Your operating system should detect the new storage device. You may need to initialize and format the drives through Disk Management (Windows) or Disk Utility (macOS) before use, especially for new drives or after changing RAID modes.
Operating Instructions
Data Transfer
The enclosure supports USB 3.0 with UASP protocol, providing high-speed data transfer up to 5Gbps. Simply drag and drop files to and from the recognized drive(s) in your operating system's file explorer.

Figure 4: High-Speed Data Transfer and Intelligent Sleep Feature
Intelligent Sleep Mode
The enclosure features a 10-minute intelligent sleep mode to conserve power and extend drive lifespan. If there is no data activity for 10 minutes, the drives will enter sleep mode. They will automatically wake up upon data access.
The auto-sleep time can be adjusted or canceled using specific firmware tools. Refer to the Troubleshooting section for more details on adjusting or disabling this feature.
Maintenance
Cooling System
The Yottamaster enclosure is designed with an all-aluminum body and features a 40mm silent fan to ensure efficient heat dissipation. This helps maintain optimal operating temperatures for your drives during extended use.

To ensure proper airflow, keep the enclosure in a well-ventilated area and avoid blocking the front and rear cooling holes.
General Care
- Clean the exterior with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners.
- Avoid exposing the enclosure to extreme temperatures, humidity, or direct sunlight.
- Do not drop or subject the enclosure to strong impacts.
Troubleshooting
Drives Not Detected / RAID Issues
- Check Connections: Ensure all cables (USB, power) are securely connected.
- Power Cycle: Turn off the enclosure, disconnect power, wait 10 seconds, then reconnect and power on.
- RAID Mode Reset: If you changed RAID modes, ensure you pressed the 'SET' button after adjusting the DIP switches. Remember that changing RAID modes will erase data.
- Drive Health: Test individual drives outside the enclosure if possible to rule out drive failure.
- Initialization/Formatting: New drives or drives after a RAID mode change require initialization and formatting via your operating system's disk management tools.
Adjusting or Disabling Sleep Mode
The intelligent sleep mode can be adjusted or disabled using a specific firmware update tool provided by Yottamaster. This process typically involves downloading a utility from the official Yottamaster support website and running it on a Windows computer.
For detailed visual instructions on how to adjust or disable the sleep mode, please refer to the official video guide below:
Video 1: Step Guide to Adjust or Disable Sleep Mode on the Enclosure. This video demonstrates how to download and use the firmware tool from the Yottamaster website to modify or cancel the intelligent sleep function for various models, including the FS2RU3.
If you encounter issues with the sleep mode or need to adjust it, follow the steps outlined in the video. Ensure you download the correct firmware for your specific model (FS2RU3).
