Setup
Follow these steps to set up your Yottamaster 2-Bay Hard Drive Enclosure.
1. Hard Drive Compatibility

Figure 4: Illustration of compatible hard drive types, including 2.5" HDD, 3.5" HDD, and 2.5" SSD.
The enclosure supports both 2.5-inch and 3.5-inch SATA I/II/III HDDs and SSDs. Each bay can accommodate a single disk up to 16TB, for a total capacity of 32TB.
2. Installing Hard Drives
- Ensure the enclosure is powered off and disconnected from your computer.
- Gently press the release button on the front of the desired drive bay to open the tray.
- Slide out the empty drive tray.
- Place your 2.5-inch or 3.5-inch SATA HDD/SSD onto the tray. Align the screw holes on the drive with those on the tray.
- Secure the drive to the tray using the provided screws from the screw kit. For 3.5-inch drives, use the side screws. For 2.5-inch drives/SSDs, use the bottom screws.
- Carefully slide the loaded drive tray back into the enclosure until it clicks into place.
- Repeat for the second bay if installing two drives.
3. Connecting to Power and Computer

Figure 5: The enclosure connected to its 150W power supply, illustrating the robust power delivery for stable data transfer.
- Connect the provided 48W power supply to the DC input port on the rear of the enclosure.
- Plug the power supply into a wall outlet.
- Connect one end of the USB 3.0 data cable to the USB 3.0 interface on the rear of the enclosure.
- Connect the other end of the USB 3.0 data cable to an available USB 3.0 port on your computer.
Operating Instructions
Powering On/Off
Press the power switch on the rear panel to turn the enclosure on or off. The front LED indicators will illuminate when powered on.
Drive Recognition and Formatting
Once connected and powered on, your computer should detect the new drives. If the drives are new or unformatted, you will need to initialize and format them using your operating system's Disk Management (Windows) or Disk Utility (macOS) tools before use.
Note: This FS2U3 model is a non-RAID enclosure. It does not support hardware RAID. If you require RAID functionality, you must configure it via software RAID tools within your operating system (e.g., Disk Utility on macOS).
Data Transfer

Figure 6: The enclosure demonstrating its 5Gbps high-speed data transmission capability and 10-minute intelligent sleep function.
The enclosure supports USB 3.0 with a transfer rate of up to 5Gbps (6Gbps SATA III protocol internally). Simply drag and drop files to and from the recognized drives as you would with any other storage device.
Intelligent Sleep Function
The enclosure features an intelligent sleep function that puts the drives into a low-power state after 10 minutes of inactivity. This helps conserve energy and extend drive lifespan. The drives will automatically wake up when accessed.
Note: The auto-sleep time can be adjusted or canceled using specific software tools, if available from the manufacturer's support website.
Hot Swapping
The enclosure supports plug-and-play hot swapping. However, it is recommended to safely eject or unmount drives from your operating system before physically removing them to prevent data corruption.
Maintenance
Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your enclosure.
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the enclosure. Do not use liquid cleaners or aerosols.
- Ventilation: Ensure the front and rear cooling holes are not obstructed to allow for proper airflow and heat dissipation. The integrated 40mm silent fan adjusts its speed automatically based on drive temperature.
- Firmware Updates: Periodically check the Yottamaster official website for any available firmware updates for your model.
- Safe Ejection: Always safely eject or unmount drives from your operating system before disconnecting the enclosure or powering it off.

Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your Yottamaster 2-Bay Hard Drive Enclosure, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
Drives Not Detected
- Power Check: Ensure the enclosure is powered on and the power adapter is securely connected.
- Cable Connection: Verify that the USB data cable is firmly connected to both the enclosure and your computer's USB 3.0 port. Try a different USB port or cable.
- Drive Installation: Confirm that the hard drives are correctly seated in their trays and the trays are fully inserted into the enclosure.
- Drive Health: Test the hard drives directly in another system or enclosure to rule out drive failure.
- Initialization/Formatting: New drives must be initialized and formatted via Disk Management (Windows) or Disk Utility (macOS).
- Driver Issues: Ensure your computer's USB drivers are up to date.
Slow Transfer Speeds
- USB 3.0 Port: Ensure the enclosure is connected to a USB 3.0 port on your computer. USB 2.0 ports will result in significantly slower speeds.
- Cable Quality: Use the provided USB 3.0 cable or a high-quality replacement.
- Drive Performance: The actual transfer speed is limited by the slowest component, which is often the hard drive itself. SSDs will provide faster speeds than HDDs.
- System Load: High CPU usage or other background processes on your computer can affect transfer speeds.
Enclosure Disconnects Randomly
- Power Supply: Ensure the power supply is securely connected and providing stable power.
- Cable Integrity: Check the USB data cable for damage. Try a different cable.
- USB Port Power: Some USB ports may not provide sufficient power. Try connecting to a different USB port, preferably a powered hub if available.
- Intelligent Sleep: The enclosure has an intelligent sleep function. Ensure it's not mistaken for a disconnection.
