4. Setup

4.1 Attaching the Side Tank

1. Position the side tank next to your Opal 2.0 Ice Maker.
2. Connect the water tube from the ice maker to the designated port on the side tank. Ensure a secure connection to prevent leaks.
3. Place the provided plastic bracket at the base to hold the side tank snugly against the ice maker.

4.2 Filling the Side Tank

To fill the side tank, simply lift it from its base, fill with water, and then place it back into the home base. The system will automatically draw water as needed for ice production.

5. Operation

The side tank significantly increases the ice maker's capacity, allowing for extended operation without frequent refills.

5.1 Enhanced Ice Production

Using the side tank produces approximately three times more ice than using the ice maker's internal reservoir alone. This reduces the need for water refills, especially during periods of high demand. The ice maker's bin holds up to 48 ounces of nugget ice.

5.2 Quick Ice Availability

The Opal 2.0 Ice Maker can produce fresh-cut nugget ice within 10 minutes or less after initial setup and power-on.

The Opal 2.0 Ice Maker features built-in Wi-Fi connectivity. Download the SmartHQ app to instantly start fresh ice production, monitor the ice maker's status, receive software updates, and use voice control through Google and Alexa for convenient scheduling of ice creation.

6.1 Cleaning the Side Tank

The side tank is designed to be easy to clean. It detaches from the main unit, allowing for quick and simple cleaning. It is recommended to clean the side tank and the ice maker regularly, approximately once a month, to prevent mineral buildup and maintain ice quality.

6.2 Descaling and Sanitizing

Refer to your main Opal 2.0 Ice Maker manual for detailed instructions on descaling and sanitizing the entire system. This process typically involves using a mixture of water and a descaling solution (such as vinegar or a specialized cleaner) to remove mineral deposits and ensure hygienic operation.

7. Troubleshooting

Here are some common observations and their explanations:

• Melted Ice Recycling: The ice bin is not refrigerated. As ice melts, the water is collected and recycled back into the ice-making process, ensuring continuous production and minimizing water waste.
• Initial Slushy Ice: During the first 30 minutes of operation, especially after initial setup or cleaning, the ice maker may produce softer, slushy ice cubes. This is normal as the system stabilizes. Subsequent batches will be firm nugget ice.
